Elevate North Texas seeks an experienced and successful grant writer to identify grants to pursue and prepare compelling grant applications in order to strengthen and diversify its funding sources.

About Elevate North Texas:

Since opening its doors in 2021, Elevate North Texas (Elevate) has partnered with young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 to create a path to housing stability. We offer a welcoming, affirming environment to all youth experiencing homelessness. Using a holistic approach with each person in its program, Elevate provides a nurturing environment in which individual needs can be identified and addressed. Whether the need is job placement assistance, help reunifying with welcoming and affirming family or friends, diversion to longer-term housing options, or immediate, short-term housing and food through its hotel program, Elevate works with each person to obtain resources to achieve housing stability and become self-sufficient. As a non-profit devoted to serving young adults who are experiencing homelessness, we take pride in meeting each individual where they are and working with them to achieve success.

As Elevate’s Grant Writer, you will:

  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of Elevate.
  • Research statistics and stay current with trends in homelessness and youth issues relevant to the North Texas area to appropriately convey the need for services.
  • Research grant opportunities from private foundations, trusts and other non-government entities, identifying relevant/best opportunities to submit 5-10 grant proposals each month.
  • Draft grant proposals and all required supporting documents, work with the Executive Director to finalize, and submit applications within required deadlines.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries on drafted and submitted proposals, maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Maintain records and submit monthly reports to the Executive Director related to grant opportunities and awards, including a calendar of deadlines for upcoming LOIs, applications, and grant reports.
  • Regularly communicate with program staff to collect and archive quotes and narratives from youth served to demonstrate programmatic impact in applications and reports.
  • Create and share documents with the Executive Director and program staff on required objectives and metrics to ensure grant requirements are fulfilled.
  • Write and submit interim and final grant reports, coordinating with the Executive Director and program staff to gather data when required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing or related area preferred.
  • At least 1-year experience in grant writing, with small shop fundraising preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and integrity.
  • Cultural competency when speaking about, advocating for, and working with a large variety of marginalized populations, including BIPOC youth, LGBTQ+ youth, youth exiting foster care, and youth who have experienced trauma required.
  • Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of Elevate.
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources.
  • Detail-oriented and strong time management skills.
  • Proficient in grants management software (e.g., GrantsHub, Fluxx, Intrumentl), and navigating shared drives (e.g., Google Workspace).
  • Knowledge of the North Texas philanthropic community preferred.

Job Type: Contract

Reports to: Executive Director

Pay: $45 - $50 per hour, depending on experience.

Hours: 5-10 hours per week. (Fully flexible schedule.)

Location: Fully-remote working environment. Preferred that candidate live within driving distance to Far North Dallas, to occasionally attend meetings at Elevate’s office.
