Ensure Your Team is Aligned on a Central Mission and Vision
Comprehensive, actionable strategy for your organization
Having your team aligned on a central mission and vision is vital to achieve community results. But questions often arise about whether you have the right mission and vision for your organization. Perhaps you have a strategic plan that needs to be refreshed or you have never attempted to develop a comprehensive plan for your organization. Either way, CNM is here to help.
We break our strategic planning process into multiple steps. Our services are customizable to meet your needs because we believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to achieving impact on our community.
Our Environmental Scan helps you assess your environment, both within your organization and the community around you, so that you can best understand your current situation. The Environmental Scan utilizes tools such as surveys, interviews, and review of organizational documents and records to understand your organization. We use primary and secondary research methods to help consider the community around you to inform your thinking about what your organization’s strategic priorities should be and how to get there.
Analyzing and Processing Data
Economist Herbert Simon once noted, “Information consumes . . . the attention of its recipients. Hence a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention.”
We’ve all been there: we have so much data and information that we don’t know what to do with it, so we do nothing. CNM will not leave you alone with all of your newfound information! We will help process the vast amounts of information and data gathered through the environmental scan into practical, actionable plans by working closely with your organization’s leadership.
We have experience facilitating discussions using tools such as the SWOT analysis, which considers your organization’s internal Strengths and Weaknesses and the external Opportunities and Threats posed to your organization. We will help your team envision the future through a Gap Analysis, where you will consider what needs to happen to bridge the difference between your current situation and your desired future state.
Establishing a Strategic Plan
Whether you are updating an existing strategic plan or establishing one for the first time ever, you want to ensure that the plan will provide the framework for action, impact, and results.
CNM will guide your leadership team through the process of reviewing and developing your organization’s mission, vision, and values. We will help you navigate the questions of whether changing the phrasing of your mission, vision, and values is best. And, if so, how to make that happen in a way that leads to team cohesiveness, not hurt feelings or division. Stronger results can be achieved when everyone has the same destination in view.
CNM will also help determine the most important objectives for your organization to achieve over the term of your strategic plan. When you’re passionate about a cause, it’s easy to get lost in the weeds. CNM will help you step back, consider the full picture, and establish key objectives that are actionable and important to your organization.
An objective is only beneficial to your organization when it’s something you can act upon. CNM’s experts will work with you to consider how your organization is uniquely situated to tackle the problems you care about. We will also help you determine the metrics you can use to measure your progress toward meeting those objectives.

“CNM has been a valuable resource to our organization in various capacities over the years. Most recently, the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas contracted with CNM for our annual Board Planning Session for Board training and strategic planning facilitation. CNM was incredibly thorough throughout the planning and implementation stages to make sure our day was streamlined and our goals were met. Our Board of Directors and staff left feeling energized and with strong priorities for the coming year. We look forward to taking advantage of more services offered by CNM in the future.”
