Status:                Full-Time

Hours:                Monday – Friday

Travel:               This position may require frequent travel within assigned markets

 

For nearly 40 years, Austin Street Center has specialized in caring for the most vulnerable homeless men and women in Dallas. Beyond meeting basic needs, Austin Street is committed to individualized care for each person who comes to us for help. Our goal is that every homeless person who comes to Austin Street Center finds hope, support, and the resources they need to transition out of homelessness.

Your role will support the mission thorough the following actions:

  • Able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, staff and community contacts and able to effectively address and resolve conflict as needed
  • Ability to work respectfully with diverse teams, build consensus, and motivate change

 

Position Purpose:

The Director of Development works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer and other members of the Advancement team to execute on fundraising development for Austin Street Center. This is a critical role requires a driven individual who can work independently as well as collaborate and communicate throughout the organization. The Director of Development is a unique opportunity to leverage experience and skillsets to directly impact the lives of our most vulnerable homeless neighbors across Dallas and the wider North Texas communities.

This role will plan and implement sales, fundraising, marketing and product development strategies and programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing clients and donors, as well as new markets and prospects, performing the following duties personally or through other team members.

Description of

  • Identify, research, and build strategic partnerships with assigned portfolio, inclusive of individuals, corporations, and foundations in support of Austin Street Center’s mission, initiatives, and programs
  • Assist with development and maintenance of an annual development plan, including determining fundraising objectives, with an emphasis on discovery and research efforts to effectively build the prospect pipeline
  • Develop strong relationships with ASC program teams to develop and maintain up-to-date subject matter knowledge and deliver a robust range of high-touch donor engagement opportunities
  • Manage, facilitate, and supervise contributed revenue activities of renewals, prospecting, and reporting
  • Conduct stewardship and cultivation activities to build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with funders
  • Maintain timely and necessary database records, files, reports, and resource materials pertinent to government and foundation activities within Raiser’s Edge
  • Create and maintain systems that promote good working relationships with program staff to ensure clear and timely communication for grant proposal development and/or reporting requirements
  • Assist the Chief Advancement Officer and entire Advancement team on special projects and events as they are identified

Skills / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • 5+ years’ experience preferred
  • Excellent organization and operational skills
  • CRM experience—Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • Keen attention to detail and strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to individuals and groups
  • Strong interpersonal skills: to deal with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
  • Demonstrates adaptability to performing a variety of duties, occasionally changing from one task to another of a different nature with minimal loss of efficiency or composure
