Description

Director of Development

Our client, Transform 1012 N. Main Street, is looking for a dynamic and driven Director of Development to join their team. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, growth-minded, detail-oriented, and self-motivated leader who will carry forward the execution of all aspects of the fundraising strategy, including capital campaign, fundraising for the operational budget, stewarding donors, and expanding/diversifying overall giving. This position reports directly to the Executive Director (ED).

Transform 1012 N. Main Street is a non-profit coalition of local arts, grassroots, and service organizations, as well as pro bono partners and individuals transforming the former Ku Klux Klan Klavern No.101 Auditorium in Fort Worth, TX, into The Fred Rouse Center for Arts and Community Healing. The Board of Directors of Transform 1012 N. Main Street models a pluricultural and shared leadership approach to acquiring, programming and managing The Fred Rouse Center. This coalition ensures that the building will be led and programmed by representatives of the cultural groups targeted for violence and economic marginalization by the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s, thereby returning resources to these communities.

The Fred Rouse Center for Arts and Community Healing – a reparative justice project – will honor the life and memory of Mr. Fred Rouse, a Black butcher, and father who was lynched by a white mob in Fort Worth in 1921.

Position Summary

  • Develop, lead, oversee, and implement an ambitious and integrated fundraising plan to include a multimillion-dollar capital campaign.
  • In collaboration with the ED:
    • Define the fundraising strategy to support the organization’s operating budget, mission, and objectives through major gifts and memberships; planned, corporate, and foundation giving, events, and government relation initiatives; all with clearly defined goals, objectives, and timelines.
    • Ensure the fundraising strategy meets the following: (1) diversifies the revenue generation of the organization, and (2) expands the organization’s donor base, working in collaboration with key partners to explore and execute fundraising partnerships.
    • Support fundraising efforts of the Board of Directors to cultivate a spirit of philanthropy and to ensure they meet the annual Board goal through their contributions, company contributions, and introductions/referrals to new donors.
  • Act as an advocate and ambassador in the community for all matters relevant to the organization, its services, and constituents. Effectively work, manage, and grow collaborative partnerships locally and nationally with an intention to address racial reconciliation and justice.
  • Guide the day-to-day operations of the development function to ensure that all administrative and operational aspects of development are executed at a high level of quality and efficiency.
  • Be an effective consensus builder, skilled at keeping internal and external constituents engaged, cohesive, and passionate about the work ahead.
  • When appropriate, collaborate with other team members to secure the necessary funding for programs, events, and/or other activities.
  • Maintain the highest standards of accountability to donors, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, and with the CFRE Ethical Principles in Fundraising. Through all personal contact and community engagement, demonstrate an empathetic disposition and perseverance, reflect an optimistic attitude, and convey sensitivity to the needs of the donor.
  • Maintain the CRM system with accurate and complete records of all communications with donors, including best-in-class recognition of donor giving.
  • Manage relationships with grant writers and other fundraising third-party organizations.
  • Embrace other strategic leadership and comprehensive implementation responsibilities as needed.
  • As the organization grows, additional responsibilities will include:
    • Collaborate with other members of the team to ensure consistent messaging and outreach strategies as they affect all philanthropy efforts.
