The Volunteer Coordinator for the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation has energy and passion for the mission and vision of the REC Foundation. This position is primarily responsible for volunteer recruitment and management leading up to, and for the duration of, the VEX Robotics World Championship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead volunteer recruitment for VEX Robotics World Championship:
    • Work with convention and visitor bureaus to market volunteer opportunities
    • Coordinate with Development on identifying volunteers through sponsor partnerships
    • Post volunteer opportunities on online service portals
    • May attend recruitment events within identified region
    • VEX Robotics World Championship Volunteer Coordinator
    • Lead the Volunteer Check-in Registration desk
    • Collaborate with RECF staff to ensure volunteer roles are filled
    • Daily management of VMS volunteers during VEX Worlds
  • Coordinates volunteer recruitment for other REC Foundation hosted events
  • Collaborates with REC Foundation staff to identify volunteer needs for REC Foundation hosted events
  • Serve and attend meetings as a member of the Development team
  • Develop relationships with sponsors to develop local volunteer bases in coordination with the Development Team
  • Actively seek out other nonprofit associations and collaboratives in the DFW area and join relevant groups that will assist with strategies and leads for volunteer recruitment
  • Prepare internal and external volunteer related collateral for team members and industry partners
  • Stay knowledgeable of relevant nonprofit volunteer coordination platforms active in the DFW area and manage REC Foundation profiles on these platforms as needed
  • Respond to volunteer phone and email inquiries
  • Develop and transmit strategic volunteer communications
  • Develop and oversee volunteer appreciation initiatives
  • Prepare post-event community service certificates
  • Volunteer Management Platform:
    • Provide feedback to developers for system improvements
    • Manage volunteer positions/roles
    • Manage volunteer care team message inbox
    • Maintain and create custom reports on roles and groups

Other Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Uphold organization policies and standards, including but not limited to policies found in the Employee Handbook
  • Ensure and maintain an ethical, trusting, inclusive, and productive work environment

Additional Information

  • Pay: $20 - $25 per hour
  • Job Type: Part Time
  • Job Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
  • Primary Location: Remote, preference in DFW area
  • Schedule: Specific schedules will be discussed with your direct manager but will typically fall within our regular hours of operations,  Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
    • Alternate times and/or days may also be required periodically

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of volunteer management experience
  • Experienced in a work from home setting with demonstrated success in remote work
  • Proactive problem-solving skills that lead to innovative thinking and resolutions
  • Ability to interface on a professional level with a variety of customers (co-workers, sponsors, customers, etc.)
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills to work effectively with other members of the team and different departments
  • Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent written and verbal skills; English fluency is required
  • Computer competency and ability to learn new programs
  • Skilled in setting priorities to manage varying tasks/projects and time management
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Ability to travel domestically for volunteer recruitment events
  • Availability to work weekends may be required when support is needed for RECF hosted events.
  • Attendance at the annual VEX Robotics World Championship for the full duration is required; please note that this event is typically 10-12 days, depending on event configuration and your specific duties, as assigned
  • Attendance at REC Foundation events, as assigned
