Essential Responsibilities

The Senior Program Manager, Education and Opportunity will assist in the strategy and execution of programs including Advancing Accountability, Pathways to Opportunity, Literacy and Reading, and other Education and Opportunity efforts at the Bush Institute.  The Senior Program Manager for Education and Opportunity will be a critical member of the team to ensure we meet program goals.

 

Specific responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

Education and Opportunity Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director to align policy and action programs with desired outcomes: advance the Bush Center as a thought leader, achieve tangible results/inspire action, garner significant awareness with target audiences.
  • Support program design and implementation of policy and action programs, including:
    • Develop written work plans and timelines.
    • Manage ongoing implementation for the Program(s).
    • Work with senior leaders to identify and measure results of the program, and regularly report on program outcome measures and progress.
  • Pull and analyze data at the regional, state, and federal levels.
  • Provide requested research and analysis of current events and policies relevant to Education and Opportunity and facilitate outreach to key partners and influencers.
  • Prepare, edit, and manage presentation materials and collateral, including version control.
  • Manage the work of relevant fellows, consultants, and independent contractors, as assigned.
  • Develop and track performance against annual program budget, as assigned.

 

General Institute Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Event Operations, Communications, Development, and other departments on meetings, events, communications plan, outreach, and donor stewardship.
  • Collaborate with the communications manager for Education and Opportunity to provide information for the website and other collateral materials, including success stories, program highlights, outcomes, photos and more.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, Education and Opportunity, and other team members to support a positive and productive work environment.
  • Support special projects and research on Education and Opportunity priorities as needed.
  • Complete other tasks and duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The qualified candidate will possess (a/an):

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
  • At least five years of experience in public policy, nonprofit work, consulting, school districts or similar; education policy experience strongly preferred.
  • Successful track record in project management, program plan development, goal setting and tracking, effective resource management, and managing for results.
  • Effective research and policy analysis skills; knowledge of high-quality research and methodology is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and experience creating reports and presentations.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities that generate new ideas and can adjust plans to meet changing needs.
  • Strong interest in and aptitude for Education and Opportunity issues.
  • Demonstrable track record in a fast-paced organization.
  • Ability to travel domestically as necessary.
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of the George W. Bush Presidential Center.
