Description

Operations Director (OD) Job Description:

The Cedars Union (CU) is searching for a detail-oriented and collaborative leader to fill the role of Operations Director (OD). The OD is responsible for daily operations, financial management, human resources, and program oversight. The OD reports to the Board President, participating in financial management in coordination with our accounting firm to ensure fiscal health. Additionally, the OD supervises a Program Manager and interfaces with Board committees.

Responsibilities:

Finance & Accounting:

• Lead budgetary planning efforts and ensure proper revenue allocation.
• Facilitate audits, manage contributions, and produce financial reports for review.
• Partner with accountants and key staff to address strategic and operational improvements.
• Track and report on expenses, ensuring accuracy and helping colleagues manage costs.
• Partner with the external accounting firm on monthly accounting procedures
• Work with Development team to ensure restricted funds are properly accounted for.

Operations & Artist Memberships:

• Collaborate with the Creative Director to maintain CU facilities efficiently.
• Develop and maintain contracts, policies, and procedures to uphold standards and legal compliance.
• Manage tracking systems for artist member payments, ensuring financial accuracy.
• Oversee artist member onboarding process.
• Manage relationships and contracts with various vendor accounts.
• Lead efforts on improving usage of digital tools and systems

Human Resources Management:

• HR staff lead including managing recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding.
• Conduct payroll with assistance from accountants.
• Ensure meticulous documentation of Human Resource processes and foster a culture of respect and accountability.
• Manage HR documents including employee handbook and PTO tracking.

Programs:

• Guide programs and rentals department to enhance artist memberships.
• Supervise Programs Manager daily and oversee artist-related communications.

Board Relations:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with Board Members
• In coordination with Board president, help organize reports and schedule board meetings.
• Meet regularly with Finance, DEAI, and HR Committee.

Key Qualifications:

• 5 years of nonprofit operations leadership experience
• Proficiency in nonprofit financial management
• Preferably experienced in annual audits

• Passionate for the arts and supporting artists

Pay & Benefits:

The CU offers 75% coverage of Medical and Dental Insurance, and offers a Vision and 401K plan. The pay range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 per year.
