DCAC is seeking an experienced and creative Marketing and Public Relations Specialist for our Marketing Team.

ABOUT DCAC: The mission of Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases in Dallas County.

We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 8,000 children and their non-offending family members.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Plans and implements a comprehensive marketing strategy around the DCAC brand and increases awareness about the mission through unique and innovative storytelling, content/collateral creation around the brand identity and management of agency social media channels.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate innovative content and communications to key stakeholders through all media channels including, but not limited to digital, print, advertising, and media relations.
  • Create strategy for mass communications calendar as well as creation of content for all social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube) with the purposes of: increasing brand awareness/agency presence (measured through increase in followers, engagement and online activity), promoting opportunities for community-at-large to become involved through activations such as volunteering, donating or procuring in-kind items for support, recognizing and stewarding donors, creating education and awareness building around DCACs mission and values, etc.
  • Manage the request process and creation of all collateral material needs for the various departments within DCAC. Must be able to design collateral for all printed pieces including brochures, flyers, and event signage.
  • In collaboration with annual and corporate development officer, create content and strategy for fundraising campaigns and events as it relates to the annual and corporate goals.
  • Create content for monthly e-newsletters. Write copy for newsletter content, create graphics, procure photos (if applicable), conduct interviews with staff and external partners for content needs.
  • Create and execute project plan for annual awareness building campaign (currently dubbed Save Jane) to be held during Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month (April).
  • In collaboration with the Education and Training team, create and execute quarterly events for the community on various topics related to the education and prevention.
  • Manage and maintain all aspects of agency website. Update pages as needed (staff changes, updated content, etc.).
  • Maintain inventory of branded items and work with printing vendor (and other vendors) to place orders for branded paper content (letterhead, notecards, etc.).
  • Review and approve all other order requests from other departments for branded collateral to ensure products adhere to brand standards. Place orders and ensure that costs are billed to appropriate department and cost center.
  • Understand, maintain, and enforce agency Brand Standards.

Other Duties:

  • Attends on-going training in field subject matter.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience

Education Bachelors Degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, or equivalent experience in public relations/communications fields

Experience: Two to four (2-4) years experience in a public relations role, preferably with a nonprofit organization.

Experience with advertising agencies and local and/or national media outlets is a plus.

Minimum of one (1) year of professional writing experience as a full-time staff member, with examples of work created in previous positions.

Required License(s) or Certifications: Clear and valid Texas Drivers License

Daily Software Knowledge and Use:

  • Advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Canva, MailChimp, Vengage, Sprout Social or other social media schedule tool.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in digital express-content creation and associated growth strategies.
  • Skilled in copywriting based off content and facts provided.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with donors, corporate sponsors, partners, the media, and other identified stakeholders.
  • Ability to attend press checks, meet with prospects and vendors, and attend events off-site.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills and ability to work across teams are critical to this position.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professionally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks and a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with client stories.
  • Advanced software skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work Location: All work must be performed in the office and on-site.

Mental and Physical Abilities: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs).

Working Conditions: Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment.
