Position Summary

The Finance Manger is a full-time position responsible for implementing the day-to-day financial operations of Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation (TPWF). The Finance Manager will lead the preparation of budgets, approve daily accounting processes, and manage banking vendor relationships. The Finance Manger will work closely with the Bookkeeper part-time Controller. This position reports to the Operations Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation of the Foundation’s annual operating budget and continuously monitor through timely and insightful financial
  • Provide accounting reports for Development, Program Directors, and Executive Director on a monthly and as-needed
  • Prepare all financial reports for the Board of
  • Maintain Accounting Policy and Procedures Manual and ensure effective controls and records.
  • Lead Form-990 filing, working with the Controller and external CPA
  • Prepare annual sales tax filing and approve 1099s prepared by
  • Lead Annual Audit with support from Controller and Bookkeeper
  • Approve quarterly administrative fees prepared by the
  • Ensure all income and expenses are coded correctly within the financial accounting software and according to GAAP
  • Review and approve daily contribution report, monthly reconciliations and reports, and journal
  • Prepare endowment and fund reporting for donor
  • Work with Chase Bank on annual account review, fees, and general
  • Manage cash balances between Chase Bank and Northern
  • Prepare agency account reconciliations for review by Controller and Director of Investments and Conservation
  • Other duties as required

Preferred background and skills

  • Minimum three years’ experience in finance and budget management in the non-profit sector.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting standards for non-profits.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft
  • Experience working with databases and financial accounting systems; Financial Edge a plus.
  • A strong work ethic, sense of urgency, self-motivation, and
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to think
  • Desire to grow into a senior Finance Director position and experience managing
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in business administration, accounting, or finance strongly preferred. A CPA designation is not

Office Location and Benefits

TPWF has offices in Dallas (Headquarters) and Austin, and this position will be based in the Dallas office. The Finance Manager will be eligible to accrue vacation in the first year of employment, and receive ten paid sick days, in addition to all staff holidays.
