Position Summary

These are the roles and responsibilities of the Executive Director of Breaking Bread Ministries. The expectation is that this employee will not only fulfill these duties but show compassion and dignity to everyone we serve as a Christian ministry to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and exemplify God’s love.

Time Commitment: Full time, exempt, 40 hours/week

Primary Roles & Responsibilities: This position is responsible for working with the Board of Directors and overseeing the Breaking Bread staff to (1) coordinate and facilitate volunteer and food services to ensure we meet the physical needs of our clients, (2) ministry programming to ensure we meet the spiritual needs of our clients, (3) maintenance within the facility to ensure that we have a safe location for our clients, and (4) knowledge of fundraising and financial aspects of a non-profit.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience (Non-profit a plus)

 

Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and proof of liability insurance
  • Must complete and pass the following background checks prior to beginning work and as requested by the Board of Directors:
    • National Sex Offender Check
    • State of Texas Criminal Record/History Check
    • Drug and Alcohol Screening
    • Credit Check
  • Develop a clear understanding of the vision of the ministry and work with the public, volunteers, employees, and the Board of Directors efficiently and effectively
  • Self-motivated, exhibits initiative, manages time efficiently, and can prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Prior supervision experience preferred
  • Possesses a strong desire and passion to work with the community we serve
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and expectation to learn and leverage DonorPerfect program

 

Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Work closely with Board of Directors to …
    • Provide updates on the ministry’s operations and staff issues
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships among both non-profits, foundations, and corporations
  • Manages all staff including a yearly performance reviews of staff
  • Hire employees based on need of the ministry following approval by the Board of Directors
  • Be available in emergency situations such as power outages, sewer backups, water leaks or other time sensitive situations

Financial

  • Maintain financial records from third party accounting firm, including bank and investment accounts, for audit and monthly reporting purposes
  • Prepare an annual budget with the Treasurer for review and approval by the Board of Directors; report monthly on comparison to approved budget to Board of Directors
  • Complete yearly audit through third party auditor to support fundraising efforts and file taxes
  • Prepare and file payroll with third party accounting firm to ensure payroll, payroll taxes, insurance and expenses are paid
  • Monthly meetings with Treasurer

Facilities

  • Ensure all facilities, equipment, and inventory are maintained in a clean, orderly manner, overseeing the cleaning of the facilities on a regular basis
  • Oversee the maintenance (repair and preventative) inside and outside of BBM facilities, including BBM vehicles

Fundraising

  • Plan, coordinate, and distribute annual appeal letters
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the donor database
  • When needed, plan, coordinate and execute grant writing activities
  • When appropriate, attend community events as a representative of BBK
  • Determine social media needs and oversee timely social media posts and monitoring

Service

  • Actively recruit volunteers for all in-facility ministry projects and programs
  • Periodically be present while meals are served to experience what we do and to evaluate and offer improvements
  • Develop and manage volunteer reminder system
  • Coordinate ministry volunteers to offer Bible study and worship
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs and scheduled supply deliveries, coordinate donation pickups, and engage visitors as donors, funders, and potential service volunteers
  • Maintain good relationships with suppliers and vendors
  • Be available and able to assume responsibilities to oversee kitchen or mobile ministry activities
  • Work to help those we serve through connection to services needed (i.e. AA, HHS, SSA, )
