The Position:

Reporting to the Chief Partnerships Officer and serving as a member of the Partnerships team, the Events Director plans, coordinates, and executes internal and external events that fulfill T.D. Jakes Foundation’s mission, enhance the Foundation’s reputation, reinforce brand-to-partner experience, and serve its key constituents and beneficiaries.

As part of the Partnerships team, the Events Director works closely with the Chief Partnerships Officer and the Development Director, as well as engaging with the Programs team, including the Chief Program Officer and the Program Manager, for events in support of partnerships and programs of the Foundation. In addition, the TDJF Events Director works closely with the Events Team at The Potter’s House/T.D. Jakes Ministries (TPH/TDJM). This team carries the overall responsibility for planning and execution of major events across the T.D. Jakes Platform. These major events include the annual International Leadership Summit, within which T.D. Jakes Foundation produces special sessions and activities that must be coordinated with the TPH/TDJM Team.

The Events Director will possess a “can-do” attitude and enjoy working as an integral member of a small and close-knit team that supports the mission and vision of T.D. Jakes Foundation, as well as be comfortable and confident in representing the Foundation with vendors, partners, and the Events teams across the T.D. Jakes Platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts short- and long-term planning and management of all TDJF events.
  • Develops, recommends, and tracks budgets, marketing objectives, and key results for all TDJF events.
  • Contributes to the development of event marketing and revenue generation plans in coordination with the TDJF team and the T.D. Jakes Platform entities (TPH/TDJM; T.D. Jakes Enterprises; T.D. Jakes Real Estate Ventures).
  • Collaborates with the Partnership team to develop and produce customized benefits and engagement programs for key partners that align the Foundation’s events with each partner’s specific goals and desired impact.
  • Assembles creative and innovative event attractions, partner activations, specialty advertising, and visual assets to maximize brand visibility, partner satisfaction, and constituent engagement.
  • Identifies, retains, and develops strong working relationships with key external vendors (a/v and set producers, venues, caterers, specialty advertising manufacturers, signage manufacturers, etc.) and internal partners (TPH/TDJM Events Team, as well as internal teams for video, photography, use of TPH venues, on-site catering, etc.).

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Experience in design, planning and management for events ranging from 50 to 2,000+ persons.
  • Flexibility and demonstrated ability to manage events across a broad array of environments/venues.
  • Experience in managing budgets, marketing objectives, relationships with vendors and internal partners.
  • Proven ability and experience in delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Strong project management skills, including time management, goal-setting, and prioritization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage and coordinate with team members at all levels across the T.D. Jakes Platform.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, hospitality, or related experience.
  • 5-7+ years’ experience in a senior role in an event management or hospitality environment
  • Proficient with MS Office and Sharepoint
  • Team player; versatile and dedicated contributor to collective success
