ACH Child and Family Services is currently recruiting a Donor Engagement Specialist.

Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with annual giving donors (individual and corporate) who have the capacity to give $1,000 – $5,000 annually, including prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Coordinates small group events designed to increase donors’ engagement and understanding of the mission of ACH Child and Family Services. Manages Community Ambassador (former Board and Auxiliary member) events. Helps with annual fundraising events, including soliciting sponsorships. Requires sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Education Requirements:  bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a business, communication, or liberal arts field.

Experience Requirements:  Must have five or more years of demonstrated nonprofit fundraising experience including working directly with individual donors. Demonstrated organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of constituent software required.

Functional Requirements:  Must understand the donor lifecycle – identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and in a team environment to achieve common goals through collaboration and the sharing of information. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, demonstrate excellent time-management skills, initiative, and be able to multi-task and work independently. Must demonstrate command of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Working Conditions:  Heavy computer usage, administrative and clerical functions in a “team” office environment, attendance at public functions, visits with donors in their homes and at restaurants, and some evening and weekend work required. Lifting files and office supplies required, up to 25 pounds.

Key Expectations/Responsibilities:

  • Works with Major Gifts Director and Chief Development Officer to set annual fundraising goals for mid-level and major gifts, then builds tactical plans to achieve those goals.
  • Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual donors with a capacity to give $1,000-$5,000 per year.
  • Manages a portfolio of 100 or more donors, including research and written moves management plans.
  • Responsible for substantive face-to-face visits with donors.
  • Support Major Gifts Director in designing and executing group donor engagement opportunities.
  • Manage group and individual tours for donors.
  • Create and present gift proposals.
  • Participates in regular portfolio and prospect review sessions with Major Gifts Director, Chief Development Officer, and other team members.
  • Assists with annual fundraising events, including Lend A Hand and Hoot ‘n Holler.
  • Manages annual Donor Appreciation event.
  • Manages Community Ambassador engagement events.
  • Works effectively with program staff to gain program knowledge to share with donors and to secure program staff assistance with tours.
  • Supports Major Gifts Director on other special fundraising initiatives as assigned.
  • Attends continuing education programs and online training to increase knowledge of the work of ACH and to gain increased fundraising expertise.
