Job Summary:
Plans, develops, implements, oversees, and evaluates all foundation, corporate and event fundraising activities based on a formalized fund development program. Assists in strengthening relationships with corporate and foundation representatives to increase engagement and assess potential giving opportunities. Works closely with Senior Manager of Corporate Giving, and Foundation Giving Manager to strengthen relationships and steward gifts and oversees the preparation of proposals and applications. Works closely with the Events Manager to ensure fundraising events achieve stated purposes.

Supervisory Responsibilities (25%)

Directs the selection, training and supervision of all staff responsible for corporate, foundation and event activities; instructs and trains employees in the proper methods and procedures for conducting work; monitors work for compliance with established program policies, procedures, standards and regulations; conducts performance evaluations. Administers, leads, plans, and supervises Institutional Giving and Events, which results in increased donor engagement, programmatic accountability and reaching fundraising goals.

Provides strong, effective and highly visible leadership to the Institutional Giving and Events team in order to capitalize on the full potential of these most critical resources; ensures that all employees are stimulated, motivated and guided to contribute fully to the realization of The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, goals and objectives and empowers employees to identify innovative approaches to enhance organizational performance.

Mentor and lead Institutional Giving and Event staff as a priority in order to promote a cohesive and successful team; ensure employee engagement in a focused effort to retain and grow staff. Works with the Events Manager to develop and direct event fundraisers and analyze financial outcomes.

Strategic Planning and Evaluation Responsibilities (25%)

Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates a variety of corporate, foundation and event strategies to achieve short-range and long-range goals; communicates and coordinates with the Senior Director, Community Relations the status and accomplishments of short and long-range plans, goals and objectives for corporate, foundation and event activities.

Leads a team to implement developed strategies and holds team members accountable for meeting established fundraising goals and metrics.

Develops, prepares, and monitors monthly reports illustrating progress against goals to be reviewed with team and shared with Senior Director of Community Relations. Working with Senior Manager, Corporate Giving, create giving levels and subsequent solicitation strategy to grow corporate giving across North Texas.

Working with Foundation Giving Manager, create and maintain an active grants calendar and subsequent cultivation and solicitation strategy to grow funding from foundations across North Texas.

Working with Events Manager, create a cohesive events strategy across North Texas to provide a consistent experience and maximize donor engagement and funds raised.

Collaborate with other departments and corps community center leadership to determine possible budget relieving funding opportunities and need throughout North Texas.

Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship of Institutional Representatives (50%)

Develops and fosters relationships with institutional funders and finds personal connections with staff, board, volunteers and donors that will ensure the attention of institutional funders.

Ensures the donor management system is maintained so that accurate and complete profiles are developed and records are maintained for each donor and identified prospect, including records of contacts, relationships, activities, meeting notes and giving histories; all are maintained, operating under of the premise that “if it’s not in the database, it didn’t happen.”

Develops, establishes and maintains a listing of institutional donors/prospects; ensures that all requests from donors/prospects for information and clarification are responded to in an accurate, timely and professional manner; evaluates day-to-day efforts to ensure that goals established are met and/or surpassed.

Actively uses internal case statements and gift opportunities to provide accurate information and opportunities to donors.

Works with the Foundation Giving Manager and Senior Manager of Corporate Giving to develop letters, proposals and reports for corporations and foundations.

Accompanies Advisory Board members, Managing Director, Area Commander, and Senior Director of Community Relations as needed in support of visits with corporations and foundations .

Gives oversight to the planning, implementation and evaluation of all fundraising events, working closely with the Events Manager.

Collaborates with members of the Community Relations Department team to ensure coordination of communications, stewardship and solicitation activities result in maximizing relationships with corporations and foundations.

Other Responsibilities:

Travels, as needed, to represent The Salvation Army within the North Texas Command to support and enhance all development programs and projects.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Materials and Equipment:

Personal Computer General Office Equipment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of corporate and foundation funding opportunities. Knowledge and ability to review and prepare reports from donor software Interchange. Ability to train and effectively direct the activities of staff and volunteers. Ability to manage confidential information and exercise discretion and judgment. Ability to prepare and maintain reports in an accurate and complete manner. Knowledge of the principles and practices of corporate and foundation gift administration. Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising events to achieve short and long-range goals. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or a related field,

And

Seven years of successful corporate, foundation and event fundraising experience

Or

any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certifications:

Valid Texas Drivers License

CFRE certification preferred

Physical Requirements:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to speak before large groups in person, by radio and television. Ability to travel to various locations in order to participate in meetings, institutional events, etc. Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently.

Working Conditions:

Work may be performed in an office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like but not limited to the office environment.
