SUMMARY

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the implementation of the goals of Catholic education as outlined in The Holy See’s Teaching on Catholic Schools (Archbishop Michael Miller):

Position: Director of Information Technology

General Description: The Director of Information Technology will provide leadership and assume management responsibilities for the direction, coordination, integration, and implementation of information technology across all departments at Bishop Lynch High School. Reporting to the Director of Logistics, this professional will possess in-depth technical expertise and will provide strategic leadership, planning, and management to all areas of information technology and systems.  The director will manage the department of information technology, ensuring that a responsive and customer-oriented culture serves the needs of all stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

Departmental Leadership

  • Lead strategic, operational, and tactical planning for the development, evaluation, and coordination of the information and technology systems.
  • Provide effective presence and team leadership to support the learning and operational needs of an educational institution that provides both in-person and digital learning
  • Direct the installation of technology systems and tools (e.g. hardware, software, systems wiring, and specialized applications) to provide a “first choice” level of service for all stakeholders.
  • Supervise the Informational Technology Department, its staff, and its mission.
    • Oversee all computer related hardware and software
    • Maintain all computer software infrastructure
    • Plan and coordinate the Information Technology workflow
    • Ensure appropriate training and development of faculty and staff
  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the campus technology plan.
  • Develop and maintain the design, installation, and management of the IT infrastructure.
  • Possess in-depth technical expertise and provide strategic leadership, planning, and management to all areas of information technology.
  • Anticipate the future information technology needs of the campus and plan for the development, update, and/or replacement of all educational hardware and software.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and departments within the school to provide effective information technology support.
  • Serve as the school’s liaison with external vendors and service providers as they relate to areas of information technology.
  • Provide effective leadership in the planning, management, and execution of the school’s strategic plan as it relates to information technology.
  • Implement effective leadership in the planning, management, and execution of a best-practices approach to cybersecurity appropriate to an educational setting.
  • Develop an annual budget that reflects the current and future needs of the information technology department and supports the long-range information technology plan.
  • Oversee asset tracking and management, vendor contracts, licensing and renewal scheduling.
  • Direct, supervise, and evaluate department staff in terms of performance responsibilities and productivity in achieving BLHS priorities.

 

 

Infrastructure Integrity

  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions to support instructional, administrative, and support services.
  • Maintain and update the technology plan for the campus.
  • Supervise the maintenance and repair of the IT systems according to the established technology plan and the school’s operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and update of campus surveillance technology and systems.
  • Regularly evaluate the school’s information security policies and recovery plan, updating as necessary according to the school’s crisis management procedures.
  • Collaborate with the information technology team and technology partners to resolve technical problems, ensure stability, and maintain service integrity.
  • Purchase, install, and manage all technology devices throughout the campus.
  • Maintain software storage of original media and the documentation of all hardware and software, and installation protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer related science preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 + years of experience demonstrated technology expertise and working knowledge of various platforms, operating systems, and programming languages.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of a strategic plan for information technology in a high school setting preferred.
  • Proven network/server experience, and experience in contingency planning.
  • Demonstrated management or supervisory experience.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Project management skills, ability to plan and work collaboratively.
  • Vendor management and purchasing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with government programs such as E-rate is desirable.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams for Education is desirable.
  • Ability to thrive in a Catholic high school environment.
  • Ability to respond to technology-impacted emergencies after hours.
