The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is seeking an experienced Director for our Family Advocacy program.  The Director of Support Services is an experienced leader who has knowledge of child abuse, victim services, family dynamics, and cultural competency.  As an important advocate in the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center multidisciplinary team, they ensure that quality programs and services are provided by the FA team on behalf of the child victims. Responsible for directing and managing all aspects of DCAC family advocacy and support services. Encourages client and family participation in the investigation, treatment, and support services available through DCAC with the hope of reducing trauma for children and non-offending family members.

ABOUT DCAC: The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases in Dallas County.

We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non-offending family members.

Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university required with a focus in social work, family systems, psychology, or related field required.  Master’s degree preferred.

Two to four (2-4) years of supervisory experience, preferably in a director role. At least four (4) years of non-profit experience; experience as a leader in the CAC industry preferred but not required.

Bilingual preferred, but not required.

Required License(s) or Certifications: Valid and clear TX DL. Licensed Master Social Work (LMSW), preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of child development and family dynamics; knowledge of sexual abuse dynamics as it relates to victims and perpetrators.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Skilled at being creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, flexible, possessing a positive attitude, tact, good judgment, cultural sensitivity, and working well as a team member with staff, community professionals, and volunteers.
  • Ability to bring others together to try and reconcile differences and uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems; builds effective teams.
  • Skilled at modeling a purposeful culture that is realistically optimistic and not imbued with a crisis mentality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professionally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks and a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees, board members, partners, and community.
