The Director of Engagement Opportunities & Older Adults will work closely with the Senior Director of Congregational Advancement in developing Temple’s volunteer program, administering the Older Adults program and any other engagement and hospitality opportunities. The Director of Engagement & Older Adults will exhibit strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with people of all ages, will be detail-oriented, and will possess the ability work in a relational database. The position will focus on volunteer development, recruitment, and management, hospitality and the welcoming of all congregants, communicating with constituents via phone, email, and written correspondence, and program and event management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enhance the volunteer engagement program by developing plans and strategies for involvement; providing opportunities for volunteer engagement and leadership development; recruiting and managing volunteer teams; and providing opportunities for Temple members to meet and build relationships with other members
  • Administer the Older Adults program by serving as the liaison to the Older Adults Committee and coordinating activities for Older Adults
  • Demonstrate a “hospitality” mindset when coordinating greeters and volunteers for events
  • Oversee Temple’s volunteer affinity groups; Brotherhood and WRJ (Sisterhood)
  • Coordinate the design and publication of printed and electronic materials with the Communication’s team, including but not limited to brochures, newsletters, videos
  • Assist with the posting of volunteer information on Temple’s website in coordination with the Communication’s team
  • Produce monthly volunteer reports, sharing stories and participation data
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Advancement database, Raiser’s Edge; updating constituent information when needed; adding notes on constituents; adding actions and pulling reports
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Congregational Advancement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree a minimum
  • Minimum of 3-5 years professional experience in volunteer management or non-profit work
  • Well-organized with the ability to effectively handle multiple tasks
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • Ability to set priorities and meet multiple deadlines with minimum supervision
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Experience with social media applications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams
  • High enthusiasm, creativity, and sociability
