Position: Director of Engagement (Salaried, Full Time exempt)

Reports to: President

Direct Reports: Donor Stewardship Manager, National Program Administrator

Position Summary: The Director of Engagement will have the responsibility of developing strategies to increase national funding, foster and improve internal and external engagement, and other activities aimed at creating a healthy workplace culture and a positive experience for all constituents who interact with HopeKids. They will provide comprehensive fundraising services in support of the organization’s vision, mission, guiding principles, strategic plan and fundraising philosophy. The Director of Engagement will have a proven professional track record of leading and managing staff, smoothly and efficiently running programs, leading successful fundraising events and stewarding a portfolio of foundation, corporate and individual donors. The Director of Engagement will understand and have experience in building healthy and strong relationships with a diverse mixture of internal and external constituents.  The Director of Engagement’s excellent written and oral communication, critical thinking, collaborative ability and problem-solving skills will reflect a strong management and business acumen. The Director of Engagement will exhibit strong organizational skills and will be detail oriented. They will be part of HopeKids’ National team and will need to be able to work collaboratively in that remote team environment. The Director of Engagement leads and manages two national staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of non-profit fundraising and executive leadership
  • Must reside in a metropolitan area where HopeKids has a chapter
  • Must be able to work from home and have a designated office space
  • Flexible work hours requiring nights and weekends
  • Interstate travel visiting each chapter annually
  • Interstate travel to attend all-staff retreat in July
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check
  • Must have a reliable and insured vehicle to be used to transport event materials and supplies
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record 
  • Required to transport materials weighing up to 30 pounds from a vehicle to a building as well as preparing facilities for events, with or without assistance

Fundraising Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all current National fundraising
    • Lead the cultivation and stewardship of a portfolio of national individual, foundation and corporate donors
    • Coordination and implementation of 4+ national fundraising events and campaigns
  • Create and implement new national fundraising strategies to meet national financial needs as the organization continues to expand its services and to ensure long-term sustainability
  • Advise Chapter Executive Directors in all aspects of their fundraising and donor stewardship

Program Responsibilities:

  • Manage existing and build new national program relationships
  • Oversee and increase family applications
  • Oversee the implementation of our national Virtual Program
  • Host and attend Virtual Program events
  • Evaluation of Virtual Program
  • Lead the coordination and attend Week of Hope in Montana in September
  • Lead the coordination of Team Hope for Relentless Nashville and Relentless Minnesota
  • Attend local HopeDay and HopeCommunity events within the local chapter

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist President in the preparation of annual budget
  • Assist President in the preparation of annual strategic plan
  • Ensure professional competence and performance of staff
  • Ensure organization policies and procedures are implemented
  • Conduct direct report performance reviews
  • Make recommendations to the President regarding the employment, performance evaluation, termination and training of staff
  • Plan and coordinate staff retreat
  • Oversee creation of periodic HopeMinute emails
  • Oversee coordination of weekly staff “Prayer & Praise” meeting
  • Assist with other tasks as required and assigned by the President

  • Strong technology skills; must be proficient with Laptop (MAC), iPhone, Email, Internet, Microsoft Office, Google Drive.  Ability to easily learn new software products.
  • Ability to learn and maintain a working knowledge of HopeKids’ CRM (Bloomerang) and event management system
