The Director of Community Engagement is responsible for overseeing and advancing Greenspace Dallas’ mission to restore and develop national park-quality green spaces within the Trinity River Corridor using a community engagement strategy that leverages its volunteer programs, community and corporate partnerships, and social media activities. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this position is key to ensuring that people perceive GSD as a primary volunteer opportunity and that potential and existing corporations identify GSD as a first choice for employee volunteerism and corporate financial support. The Director is also the lead for promoting and marketing the organization through its digital and social media platforms with the goal of advancing community outreach.


  • Lead community engagement strategy with concentration on strengthening and diversifying a portfolio of community volunteers and corporate partners.
  • Develop recruitment, engagement, tracking, and retention strategies for volunteers and corporate and community partners including presentations to volunteers and corporate groups.
  • Prepare and/or assist with funding proposals for corporate giving and sponsorship
  • Oversee marketing through social media, website and electronic and print communications Expand the organization’s digital presence, fostering the growth of an online community.
  • Oversee and manage the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that position supports rewarding volunteer experiences for youth, adults, families, and other community organizations including the coordination of ongoing in-the-field volunteer opportunities and companion social events.
  • Manage program budgets and develop annual revenue goals for corporate support and volunteers and community engagement activities.
  • Continually model best practices to ensure top-notch volunteer
  • Oversee data collection, tracking, analysis and reporting of information related to volunteers, student program participants, and partners.
  • Serve as a Greenspace Dallas representative at public events and serve as the point person for all speaker requests matching Greenspace Dallas staff or Board members with various speaking engagements.

Education and/or Experience Required (Minimum):

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-4 years of experience in community outreach, nonprofit development, volunteer management or related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and professionally with a wide range of audiences, both inside and outside the organization.
  • Strong presentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including proficiency in Standard
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media platforms, and (database).
  • Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a highly fast-paced environment meeting various deadlines.


This is a full-time position, exempt. Office hours are typically Monday through Friday,9:00 to 5:00, however, this position regularly requires frequent weekend work with volunteers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Work Environment:

In this position, you will need to be comfortable in varying work environments from the GSD offices in a building that also serves as its equipment storage/repair shop and garage to visiting prospects’ and donors’ corporate offices and at times, being in the field on trail or in park settings with volunteers. The noise level in GSD is usually moderate but while in the field, the noise level may vary as will weather conditions. You will also experience varying climate conditions such as cold and wet or high heat and humidity.

This is a full-time position. Office hours are generally 9:00 to 5:00 but these may vary. This position will require evening and weekend work.

Salary: $50,000 to $70,000 Depending on Experience.
