The Director of Annual Giving will serve as a front-line fundraiser, advancing relationships with and increasing support from individuals that have the capacity to make a significant philanthropic investment in the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. The director will also provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management for all activities related to annual giving, including one direct report.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategies that result in the achievement of annual giving goals for the Perot Museum.
  • Identify, qualify, and prioritize prospects through research, screening, and discovery meetings.
  • Develop, track and regularly report on meaningful metrics and milestones to ensure progress toward and attainment of fundraising targets (with willingness and ability to recommend course corrections if needed).
  • Work with Sr. Director of Development and VP, Development & Membership to ensure best practices for donor pipeline, cultivation, stewardship, upgrade, and lapsed donor renewal.
  • Monitor revenue related to Individual Giving on a weekly basis and prepare regular reports on all appeal activities.
  • Create annual goals and an engagement plan for each of the donors and prospects based on organizational priorities, the individual’s interests, history of giving, and other relevant criteria.
  • Successfully engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects.
  • Collaborate with program and marketing/communications staff to develop compelling funding proposals and accompanying informational materials for individual donors that support organizational priorities. This will require both a broad overview and a detailed understanding of the organization’s programs and projects.
  • Manages the Donor Relations Manager to ensure donor recognition is enhanced in all communication strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of donor communications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 7+ years related work experience building and implementing a fundraising strategy
  • Experience in portfolio management, building successful, sustainable relationships
  • Management experience

Required Abilities and Skills:

  • Demonstrated understanding of fundraising, communication, and marketing principles.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to solicit funds through personal contacts with donors and prospects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to work closely with all constituents including vendors, donors, staff, volunteers, wish families, and the public.
  • Strong organizational and financial management skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office and database management software such as Salesforce.
  • Experience with moves management process and tracking activity within Salesforce.
  • Self-starter with creative problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to attend events that may take place early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to present a positive and professional image of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Must be optimally protected against COVID-19 by being vaccinated and being up to date with a booster dose.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required regularly to:

  • sit for extended periods of time while utilizing resource materials such as a computer and detailed spreadsheets.
  • communicate by telephone; email other appropriate Perot Museum communication platforms (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom, etc.).

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will occasionally be required to:

  • lift and/or move lightboxes and other materials of 20 lbs. or less.
