TITLE:                                  Development Officer

DEPARTMENT:                  Resource Development

REPORTS TO:                     Vice President of Development

SALARY RANGE:              Competitive and commensurate with experience

FLSA STATUS:                    Full-Time, Exempt

 

SUMMARY

A key member of the Development Team, this position will help develop, manage, and execute a fundraising plan to achieve $5 million in revenue. Duties will include managing and executing a comprehensive annual giving and stewardship program through various appeals to individual and institutional donors. The position will also be responsible for leading the planning and execution of two annual signature events and supporting smaller events organized by various affiliated groups. The position also manages the donor database which includes database management, gift and pledge processing, acknowledgements, and data reporting. Finally, the Development Officer will also assist with the tracking and submission of grant reports. This position reports to the Vice President of Development.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Annual Fund

  • Lead Spring and Fall Retention Campaign, Employee Giving/Matching Gifts, Monthly Giving, BGCA Week, North Texas Giving Day, Giving Tuesday, Year End and other campaigns
  • Develop direct mail, email, social media, and text messaging strategies for campaigns in partnership with the Marketing Team

Grants

  • Work closely with the Director of Grants Administration with managing a successful grant program and timely reporting
  • Assist with researching and cultivating new grant funding opportunities

Fundraising Events

  • Plan and execute two signature annual events to meet revenue goals
  • Work with Development and Marketing staff to achieve revenue goals
  • Be responsible for record keeping and reporting as it relates to sponsorships, event budgets, and other accounting
  • Work with volunteers and affiliated groups as support to their fundraising events

Relationships and Donor Relations

  • Be a point of contact and liaison with advisory council leadership and members to assist in their efforts to broaden membership and fundraise
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders including major donors, both individual and institutional, board members and trustees, alumni, and volunteers
  • Develop and implement a stewardship plan for all donors

Donor Database

  • Serve as the organization wide donor database Raiser's Edge NXT and Salesforce expert
  • Ensure timely gift entry and receipting
  • Maintain data health and integrity by implementing database policies and procedures and upgrading as new technology becomes available
  • Onboard and train staff
  • Monthly reconciliation with accounting financial reports
  • Build out reporting, dashboards, and systems for data-informed fundraising strategy (appeal reports, stewardship, moves management, automated processes)

 

SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3 years in direct individual and corporate fundraising
  • CFRE or CAP preferred
  • Knowledge of philanthropy best practices and principles while adhering to the highest ethical standards
  • Familiarity and commitment to the mission, objectives, policies, and programs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce required
  • Superior people skills including donor relationship building
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, accuracy, and diligence
  • Proven organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and produce high quality results
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software: MS Office, Project Management (Asana), Chat GPT, Email and Text Messaging Digital Marketing Tools
  • Proficient writing and communications skills
  • Collaborative style fostering workplace excellence and mutual staff support
  • Highly motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team and with energy, optimism and persistence

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have personal vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Must pass a routine background screening
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as needed
