Family Gateway relies on its individual, foundation, and corporate partners to create sustainable social
impact. The Development Officer will focus on connecting, maximizing, and generating individuals and
corporate partners to develop and deepen relationships, maximize revenue, and generate resources for
Family Gateway.

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Development Officer will oversee a mixed portfolio of
individuals and corporations that will be instrumental in achieving the organization’s fundraising goals.
Day to day duties include major gift solicitation, working closely with companies, effective moves
management, and event planning.

The Development Officer will be a highly effective storyteller and relationship builder who can bring to
life Family Gateway’s impact and will possess communication skills that capture the hearts and minds of
potential donors, inspiring them to support Family Gateway’s mission.

This position is ideal for someone who is entrepreneurial with proven fundraising experience, who is a
proactive leader, creative problem solver, and strategic thinker with an aptitude for relationship
development.

The principal responsibilities of the Development Officer are to:

  • Manage and direct a portfolio of donor and prospects for solicitation of major gifts and
    corporations.
  • Develop innovative strategies to promote and increase philanthropic giving.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of current and future major donors.
  • Strengthen and evolve existing relationships as well as focus on prospecting and building new
    long-term partnerships that result in funding for the immediate and long-term goals of Family
    Gateway’s mission.
  • Provide the expertise to advance the work of Family Gateway by identifying sources of support,
    proactively seeking opportunities to generate new partnerships and sponsorships based on
    aligning corporate interests, and by maintaining strong communication ties with corporate
    donors and prospects.
  • Identify purpose-driven employee engagement opportunities and be a resource for companies
    to strengthen their corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies, talent acquisition, and talent
    retention plans.
  • Assist with other special events that may occur during the year.
  • Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and other organizational development activities.
  • Work independently and as a team player to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and
    projects.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
