DESCRIPTION: As a member of the Resource Development Team, this position is responsible for private fundraising efforts focusing on individual, corporate, and faith-based donors. The development manager will be expected to establish and reach an annual fundraising goal in partnership with the Chief Development Officer. This position will develop and execute a strategy to increase the number of annual donors, retain existing donors, and recapture lapsed donors. The person is responsible for ensuring appropriate cultivation, soliciting, and stewardship of Bridge donors.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct The Bridge’s annual giving campaign to produce sustainable revenue from individuals, corporations, and faith-based organizations.
  • Develop an annual strategy for fundraising activities, including the annual campaign, employee giving, North Texas Giving Day, and special events. Establish revenue and participation goals for these fundraising activities.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to increase the number of annual donors, retain existing donors, and recapture lapsed donors.
  • Manage, cultivate, solicit, and steward an active portfolio of current donors and prospects.
  • Assist resource development team with special events, including planning, implementing, preparation, and execution.
  • Support resource development team efforts to develop relationships with corporations and organizations and schedule regular engagements with decision-makers. Provide campus tours to potential donors and stakeholders.
  • Certify that the development associate has processed gift acknowledgments and receipts and that all end-of-year tax letters are sent following IRS reporting requirements.
  • Ensure donors within their portfolio receive timely and accurate acknowledgments of their gifts in the desired 48-hour timeframe.
  • In conjunction with the marketing and communication manager and development associate, deliver direct mailers such as holiday greeting cards, funding appeals, and event invites to Bridge supporters.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience is required.
  • 5+ years of non-profit experience, with a minimum of three years of fundraising experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge is strongly preferred.

  • A passion for working with citizens experiencing homelessness.
  • Capacity to assess character, skill with displaying good judgment, and evaluate the willingness to respect personal boundaries.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires significant time in front of a computer and on the phone, speaking with donors. The Bridge will make historical data, programs and services descriptions, and other resources available to prepare and submit asks effectively. Flexibility with available resources is a must. This person will work alone and as part of the Resource Development Team.

This person must be comfortable having contact with Guests experiencing homelessness. The position requires the person to be observant of their surroundings. The person must understand the possibility of exposure to inside environmental conditions such as infectious/communicable diseases, blood, and bloodborne diseases, odors, and dust. There is also the possibility of physical and/or verbal abuse from a Guest.

It is recommended that employees get tested for Tuberculosis (TB) every six months or as often as they choose. The Bridge offers free testing. See Human Resources for a testing schedule.

Note: This position is salaried between $67,000 - $75,000 a year.
