DCAC (Dallas Children s Advocacy Center) seeks a highly motivated, proven leader who has deep authentic funding and community relationships, an impeccable reputation, leads with integrity and accountability, brings a significant repertoire of donors, and is strategic, creative, and knows how to develop and engage a team.

Partnering closely with the President/CEO and the Executive Leadership team, the Chief Development and Marketing Officer (CDMO) role is to strategically increase and develop the overall capacity of the Agency’s fundraising and marketing programs by enhancing donor engagement and development, understanding the life cycle of a donor from entry level to major gifts and volunteer and in-kind donations program, and ensuring the development department secures and raises $5M. The CDMO is responsible for the strategic planning, development and implementation of all marketing efforts of the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC). This individual will oversee efforts to strengthen and align the brand of DCAC in order to enhance awareness, support consistent business growth, and educate the community about the mission of the agency.

This role also is a champion for internal and external partnerships, to advance unified communication, branding, and marketing strategies in pursuit of broadening our Client Services, deepening The Agency’s impact within our communities. Fund Development:

  • Determine goals, cash flow projections and an annual work plan to reach and exceed Agency funding goals.  Work with President and CEO and CFO/COO to develop all fundraising-related budgets.
  • Adjusts fundraising strategy as needed to respond to new opportunities and changing funding.
  • Work with the President and CEO, and Board of Trustees to facilitate short and long-term strategic funding plans.
  • In collaboration with the President and CEO, directly leads fundraising with the Board of Trustees, to ensure they meet the annual Board goal through their personal contributions, company contributions and introductions/referrals to new donors.
  • Work with the Director of Development to ensure our volunteer management and in-kind donation process and support is robust, engaging, and strategic to increase our volunteer base.
  • Oversee the Corporate and Major Gift Partnerships Strategy.
  • Oversee the Special Events team to execute best in class special events for future participants and donors.
  • Oversee the corporate and foundation grant process.

Volunteer and In-Kind Donations Program:

  • Work with Director of Development to implement short- and long-term planned giving goals and strategies to build upon existing commitments and expand the current donor base pipeline to support DCAC’s mission.
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator and solicits donations from corporations, foundations and community partners.
  • Ensure the distributions of such donations throughout the agency as needed, based on the needs of our clients and programs.

Marketing Strategies:

  • Strategically create, execute, and manage all branding, marketing, public relations, and communications to enhance organization’s mission.
  • Build robust marketing and community/public relations strategy to heighten awareness of mission, programs, and issue. Strategy to include metrics for success and data benchmarks.
  • Oversee development and management of all print and electronic collateral, including website, social media, speeches, scripts, event materials, annual report, direct response, and other communications.
  • Facilitate production of advertising, news relationship, radio/television copy, brochures, newspaper articles, videos, and other promotional materials.

Team Leadership:

  • Mentor team to hone, advance and develop skills and modern capabilities. Improve upon beloved current events and innovate through new events, capturing audiences and donors.
  • Identify and address development issues that affect the well-being and efficacy of the organization.
  • Serve as an inspirational leader for staff; promote a culture of accountability and integrity, high performance, meaningful collaboration, and continuous improvement and growth that values commitment to equity, learning, and quality.

Other:

  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, maintain accountability standards to donors and ensure compliance with code of ethical principles of professional conduct for fundraising executives; demonstrate empathetic disposition and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude; and convey sensitivity to needs of the donor.
  • Attends board meetings and serves as ambassador of the organization.

Expected Results:

  • Revenue streams grow to meet the funding needs of the organization.
  • A strategic focus of fundraising activities is aligned with the mission of the organization and filling fundraising gaps for programmatic services.
  • Fundraising staff have a clear understanding of their role and are motivated to achieve the department’s goals.
  • The department is efficient and effective and focused on team goals and objectives.
  • A consistent message is delivered to current and prospective donors, funders, and partners.
  • Online branding and digital fundraising are expanded.
  • All fundraising messaging and publications are compelling and consistent with the organization’s brand and voice.
  • Board engagement and efforts are well structured and board members’ time will be utilized appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required, and graduate degree strongly preferred. A minimum of 10-15 years in fundraising and marketing experience with five years at a Senior Leadership level.  The ideal candidate must be an influential, highly connected, creative strong communicator and have demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful, multi-million dollar fundraising strategies and supporting donor operations across all aspects of fundraising operations, including building the case, cultivating donors, managing effective fundraising, marketing, and events teams, and soliciting and securing major and leadership level gifts.

  • A thoughtful and influential leader with proven experience of building and growing high-achieving teams.

  • Has a flexible and adaptable style. Able to lead transformation and manage a team through changes in process.
  • Possesses business savviness with the ability to engage, influence and assess risk, issues, and priorities.
  • Proven ability to build and lead a team to success and foster a culture of accountability, inclusiveness, teamwork, and collaboration with others; experience implementing and managing performance measurements to achieve success.
