Recovery Resource Council is seeking to hire a full-time Certified Recovery Support Peer Specialist to work in our Denton/Collin County locations.    We are looking for a valued expert expected to deliver high quality, accurate results, while efficiently maintaining and enhancing existing organizational systems and standards.  Qualified candidates are diligent problem solvers, who can work independently while adhering to contract requirements.  A thoughtful, persevering, self-disciplined approach to achieving accurate, detailed work is essential.

Duties and responsibilities:

This position will be a hybrid position with heavy marketing in the Denton/Collin area for the first several months.  In addition to marketing and community team building, this Peer Support Specialist will work closely with clients to support their efforts in recovering from the chronic disease of addiction using stages of change concepts, 12 steps of AA/NA, education groups and other pathways to recovery. Support clinical staff to achieve goals and objectives, sharing resources, and facilitating groups with clients.  Our preferred candidate will provide trauma informed, evidenced-based peer support services to individuals with substance use disorder as well as working with partners within the community in person to increase awareness and obtain referrals for clients who need to be screened.  Qualified candidates will have their Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) certification or have completed peer support core training and have submitted their application.  High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent required.  Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.  Minimum of one year’s experience in area of substance misuse and/or crisis intervention activities preferred.  Demonstrated knowledge of substance use and misuse, addictions, family systems, and self-help groups; knowledge of the community and resources; experience in researching, organizing, and recording data; trained in Motivational Interviewing and trauma informed care.
