Building a Culture of Philanthropy

A culture of philanthropy happens when everyone in an organization understands the importance of fund development and has a role in encouraging it. This session will help you assess your organization’s culture of philanthropy and find ways to help increase it among your staff and board.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand “textbook” definitions of a culture of philanthropy and how they apply to your organization, given its size.
  • Discover how accounting, program/direct service, volunteers, and your leadership can help strengthen philanthropic support for the mission and how the development officer can engage them all in their work.
  • Identify steps you can take to help encourage a culture of philanthropy in your organization.
