Our Mission and Values

Our Mission: Make life better for children

For over 100 years at Children’s Health℠ our mission has been to make life better for children. We have a long-standing commitment to our community that includes advocacy, education and preventive care, as well as making sure that all children are insured.

Our beginnings in 1913 were humble, but even then, our vision was big. Today our team takes great pride in serving as the eighth-largest pediatric health care provider in the country, and the only academically affiliated pediatric hospital in the area. For six consecutive years, Children’s has been recognized among the top children’s hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

As we enter our next century, we are committed to keeping alive Children’s Health Founder Nurse May Smith’s spirit of courage, dedication to excellence and the drive to grow so we can reach as many children as possible with the very best care.

Our commitment to our community reaches beyond our walls and into schools, social-service organizations, corporate boardrooms, city halls and legislative chambers. In addition to providing healthcare, we often serve as a voice for the voiceless and an advocate for the children who have no vote and no lobbying group to speak on their behalf.

  • Licensed for 616 beds
