Description
Job Summary:
The Volunteer and Communications Manager is responsible for management of the volunteer program, including recruitment, orientation, onboarding, training, retention, and recognition. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for creating and disseminating print and digital content, including designing materials in accordance with brand standards.
Reporting Structure:
The Volunteer and Communications Manager reports to the Director of Development, works collaboratively with all staff, and supervises volunteers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Volunteer Program – 60%
- Oversee volunteer program, including attraction, recruitment, onboarding, training, retention, and transition for individuals and groups.
- Database (currently Volgistics) and records management for all volunteers and prospects, including reporting.
- Work collaboratively with department heads on volunteer placement, scheduling, training, and ongoing engagement.
- Lead volunteer appreciation and engagement initiatives, including annual volunteer celebration event.
- Attend, network, and present at events in the local community, including churches.
- Manage volunteer program to achieve annual goals within budget.
- Develop and maintain volunteer program materials, including handbook, job descriptions for individual volunteer roles, and marketing materials.
- Research, recommend, and implement best practice in volunteer management for an organization primarily staffed by volunteers.
- Assist Development Director and CEO with developing new corporate, church, and community partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
Communications – 35%
- Assist Development Director in the development of communications strategy and planning.
- Maintain and regularly update communications calendar.
- Create content, including copy writing and graphic design, for social media, website, and print.
- Maintain media library, including soliciting content from others and generating photos and video.
- Support donor stewardship and cultivation strategies, including gift acknowledgements.
- Support all ongoing communications activities across the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
General – 5%
- Participate in development and WRCH-wide meetings, trainings and events.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following WRCH safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Prior experience with volunteer, membership, or human resources functions.
- Prior experience with marketing and communications, including copy writing and graphic design.
- Prior experience in proactive identification, cultivation, solicitation of volunteers and donors.
- Excellent communications skills, including proficiency with Canva.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service.
- Servant minded.

- Available to work a varied schedule including weekends.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred.
Compensation:
The salary range for the Volunteer and Communications Manager position is $50,000 - $54,000. In lieu of healthcare benefits, Hope provides all full-time employees with an annual taxable benefits allowance of $3,967. Additionally, all full-time employees receive paid time off and are eligible to participate in a 401K with 1:1 match for up to 3%.
