Job Description: Gift Shop Coordinator
Reports: Guest Relations Manager
Status: Full time Non-Exempt
Compensation: $13.00 hourly
Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 9:30am – 5:30pm
Job Summary and Qualifications
This position oversees the daily operations of the Gift Shop ensuring that it operates in a professional and profitable manner in close coordination with Texas Discovery Gardens volunteer buyer. The ideal candidate will have extensive cash handling experience, a background in retail business, and knowledge of inventory control, basic accounting and merchandising.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily operations of Gift Shop operations in conjunction with Guest Relations Director and TDG’s volunteer buyer
- Responsible for ordering and inventory tracking of merchandise
- Provide top notch customer service and provide an inviting experience to all TDG guests
- Stock and maintain visually appealing displays
- Manage proper stock inventory and maintain accurate records
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; college experience, preferred.
- 3-5 years cash handling and record keeping experience
- 2-3 years experience in a retail management capacity
- Knowledge of product development and visual displays and installations
- Possess excellent customer service skills, verbal and writing skills, and organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects for exhibits
