Job Description
Mission: The mission of the Treasurer is to ensure accurate financial records to enable the staff and administrative committee persons to make sound decisions on programming and staffing needs.
Requirements
- Have a working knowledge of accounting, fiduciary responsibilities and non-profit organization goals and objectives.
- Have knowledge of other business functions including but not limited to purchasing, benefit & compensation, non-profit and United Methodist Church legal matters, risk management and reporting.
- Be an accountant or bookkeeper or have experience in maintaining a complete set of books for an organization. A college degree, especially one in a business or accounting area, is desirable but not essential.
- Be certified in and/or have excellent working knowledge of QuickBooks Online, including the payroll module.
Expectations

Maintain AUMC’s chart of accounts, including those of the church’s Day School.

Pay expenses, including payroll and associated taxes, and requested checks on time.

Track contributions and donors, ensuring donations are applied as directed.

Provide AUMC Leadership Board, Day School Board, and other committees with accurate and timely financial statements.

Function as the liaison between AUMC and the bank and other financial institutions.

Be a resource to committees, staff, and congregation members.
