Description

Joy Academy is a Christian school serving K-12 students in the impoverished nation of Liberia.

The Board of Directors is the fiduciary, governing, policy-making body responsible for the overall management and administration of Joy Academy Educational Foundation (“JAEF”), a tax-exempt, nonprofit supporting the work and activities of Joy Academy in Liberia. Board members provide leadership, set direction and policy, and share overall responsibility for fundraising, development, and financial management.

JAEF  board members are expected to serve as representatives of Joy Academy in the larger community, comply with JAEF's bylaws and legal and ethical requirements, assist in fulfilling the board’s responsibility to generate revenue to serve JAEF's mission, and maintain familiarity with JAEF's programs.  The board is committed to enhancing the diversity of its membership as well as supporting JAEFs ability to engage effectively with diverse communities.

Board member terms are three years. Board members may serve up to three consecutive terms. If a director reaches the limit and leaves the board, she or he shall be eligible to be elected again to the board after at least two (2) years off the board, by the same process through which any new director is elected to the board.
