The Associate Director of Generosity serves in partnership with the Executive Director of Generosity and directors of the Community Impact Ministries to lead development and fundraising initiatives to provision the mission and vision of the HPUMC.   The Associate Director is a strategic, results-driven, creative, innovative thinker with the ability to translate a concept into action; a relational servant-leader, engaging in tactical planning, execution, and implementation of programs that strategically engage the church community on growing the annual operating Budget, realizing capital campaign goals, and implementing planned giving and specifically identified church-wide or ministry specific fundraising initiatives.

The Associate Director is a team player who is entrepreneurial, articulate, engaging, enthusiastic, positive, and embraces the mission of our church. The Associate Director should be an experienced leader with strong development experience and a purpose-driven mindset to see projects to a successful conclusion. In addition, she or he should be able to act as an ambassador who is friendly and courteous to all of HPUMC’s members, as well as be comfortable working closely with other church staff and relevant lay-member committees.

FLSA Status:  Exempt

Campus:  Mockingbird

Working Hours:  This is a full-time position.  Office hours are 36 hours a week but often more hours are required.

Anticipated Schedule:  Monday-Thursday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm and Fridays 8:30 am – 12:30 pm are office hours.  This position requires flexibility in terms of working hours as evening and weekend hours are typical for Outreach and Church Wide events.

During certain times of the year, additional hours may be necessary to meet the demands of the job.  All church staff will be asked to support and serve for religious holidays and worship services including Christmas Eve and Easter, as well as Back-to-School Sunday, Serving Day, and others as requested. Presence on occasional Sundays is also required to ensure that one has a firsthand understanding of the church culture.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Key responsibilities include designing and managing annual, ministry-focused and planned giving campaigns, analyzing data to inform strategies to elevate year-round giving, evaluating the effectiveness of such efforts, and supervising relevant support staff and lay-member volunteers. This individual will work closely with both the business office and creative communications teams as they relate to generosity and impact fundraising efforts, in addition to the production of supporting communication, marketing, and recognition materials.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Annual Stewardship and Capital Campaign Initiatives

  • Partner with the Executive Director of Generosity & Impact Ministries, Leadership Team, and Stewardship Committee to design and execute an innovative, multi-year stewardship strategy and tactical plan to meet established revenue goals
  • Manage all operations related to annual giving, including timelines, records maintenance, donor correspondence, reporting, and program coordination between collaborative ministry areas
  • Coordinate events with HPUMC leadership, staff, and volunteers
  • Analyze campaign results and adapt appropriately
  • Work with the creative communications team in developing coordinated messaging and timelines
  • Collaborate with the business office team in support of financial practices and reporting systems
  • Assist with preparing key communications for the Sr. Minister
  • Develop and execute donor recognition
  • Identify prospects and analyze giving potential
  • Maintain donor profiles with financial, family, and area-of-interest details
  • Manage gift cultivation process for clergy, ministry staff leaders and lay leader volunteers

Lead Gifts and Planned Giving

  • Identify prospects and analyze giving potential
  • Maintain donor profiles with financial, family, and area-of-interest details
  • Manage gift cultivation process for Sr. Minister, ministry leaders, and lay leader volunteers
  • Assist with preparation and management of financial “asks”
  • Develop and execute donor recognition

Education and Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a related field such as psychology, business, marketing or communications
  • 3 years experience working in a church or non-profit environment
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to set strategy and directionStrong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge, experience, and proven success in managing fundraising initiatives with demonstrated experience and competency in the following areas:
    • Annual Operating Fundraising Initiatives
    • Capital Campaigns
    • Major Gifts
    • Planned Giving
    • Grants
  • Strong analytical (project management) skills with prior experience and ability to mine and analyze donor and market data, evaluate and prioritize various courses of action toward results-oriented, successful outcomes
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills (both internally and externally)
  • Strong interpersonal/human relations skills along with strong leadership and management skills
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment in a changing environment with the ability to anticipate future needs, always interacting with diplomacy and tact amid influential clients and diverse groups.

Preferred Software Experience:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • G Suite (Google, Gmail, Calendar, etc…)
  • Touch Point or similar database knowledge/experience
  • Zoom/GoogleMeet/Virtual Meeting Applications
