About DCMS and DCMS Foundation:
The Dallas County Medical Society (DCMS) is the professional society representing physicians, residents, and medical students in Dallas County, Texas. DCMS has grown from 30 members to over 9,400 since its inception in 1876. DCMS is a leader at the local and state level and is the second-largest county medical society in the country. DCMS is a component of the Texas Medical Association (TMA).
The mission of DCMS is to promote public health and advocate for physicians and their relationships with patients, while upholding professionalism in the practice of medicine. DCMS lives this mission through the leadership of physician volunteers serving on committees and boards who partner with professional full-time Society staff. DCMS goals include being a trusted community resource and the recognized leader and resource in public health. Additionally, advocacy is an important goal as it provides a powerful common voice for protecting the patient/physician relationship. Finally, membership is the backbone of our organization as we are dedicated to being the pre-eminent medical society with a diverse membership and united leadership throughout Texas and the U.S.
The DCMS Foundation is the 501(c)3 charitable affiliate of DCMS. The mission of the DCMS Foundation is to provide programs and services that connect physicians and the delivery of physician-led healthcare to residents in the greater Dallas County community, as well as fund and maintain the DCMS Foundation headquarters building. The initiatives are funded through individual philanthropic giving and grants to the DCMS Foundation.
