The Parent Café Coordinator works collaboratively with the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Team helping to improve maternal and child outcomes. This position also works closely with the Economic Advancement (EA) Team to develop host locations for Cafés in high-need areas. The Café Coordinator is responsible for outreach, recruitment and enrollment of families and preparing & facilitating group discussions and lessons in accordance with the Parent Café model. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule which could involve evenings and weekends. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout Dallas County is required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate Parent Cafes for families in the community using Strengthening Families framework.
- Recruit families to participate in weekly meetings through community outreach.
- Train Facilitators and Parent Cafe Hosts; facilitate discussion and encourage mutual self-help exchanges of suggestions, experiences & support.
- Engage parents in leadership roles and encourage attendance.
- Develop working relationships with families to promote problem-solving competence.
- Manage café logistics, track attendance, registration, surveys and feedback.
- Assist in planning parent activities, encourage parent participation in program activities, and obtain feedback from parents regarding the level of satisfaction with the services they receive.
- Maintain a sense of teamwork between Parent Cafés and other WiNGS programs.
- Promote and network with other community agencies; participate in community events.
QUALIFICATIONS / POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s level degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development or a related field is preferred.
- Two years of relevant experience working with children and families. Experience working with volunteers is desirable. Experience and enthusiasm for working with and supporting families; especially parents/caregivers.
- Successful clearance of required background checks.
- Ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.
- Ability to establish relationships with individuals from diverse socioeconomic and cultural background
- Ability to work autonomously and with a group of diverse peers.
- Must possess good time management and organizational skills.
- Local travel required; must have reliable transportation and acceptable driving record.
