Who We Are

OUR PROGRAM

We are a comprehensive program that teaches self-sufficiency and life skills to families experiencing homelessness. We help willing people regain dignity and independence. On a typical night, approximately 180 people sleep at the Inn, 70 of which are children. Unfortunately, the need for services is growing.

THE BASICS

We provide a safe and clean place to live at no cost. Living areas for single men, women and families are separate. We serve three well-balanced meals each day. We have a  dining room, playroom, a computer lab, classrooms, a chapel, a fully-equipped playground, and a kennel for our residents' pets!

BEYOND SHELTER

We provide free laundry, personal hygiene items, and vouchers for all needed items and services such as day care and transportation. Residents attend a variety of classes including financial literacy, job readiness, parenting and computer skills.  They meet one-on-one with their licensed caseworker to develop an individualized action plan and goals for their success. On-site professional counselors help residents deal with issues that may have lead to homelessness.

RESIDENTS' NEXT STEPS

Residents who gain full-time employment, complete our financial literacy program, and achieve their savings goal can apply for our Gateway transitional housing program. The program supplies a fully-furnished apartment with subsidized rent and continued case management. Residents have time to adjust to market rate rent, independent living responsibilities and build their rental and credit histories.

What We Do

Founded in 1984, The Samaritan Inn started out as an emergency night shelter that could only accomodate 10 men each night. Over the last 30 years, The Samaritan Inn has evolved into a comprehensive homeless program that helps willing people gain dignity and independence.
