Job Title: Director of Network Development
Reports to: Communities In Schools of Texas’ Executive Committee
Office Location: Texas. A home office or at a CIS affiliate
Salary Range: $95K-$110K annually
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of progressive experience, inclusive of fundraising and/or marketing
- Graduate Degree from an accredited college or university
- CFRE Certification
Minimum Qualifications
- 8 years of progressive experience, inclusive of fundraising and/or marketing
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Knowledge/Skills:
- Exhibit a commitment to Communities In Schools’ mission
- Proven ability to build relationships among diverse stakeholders
- Ability to engage and educate individuals and partners to support the organization’s mission
- Possess strong organizational, administrative skills and financial acumen
- Strong communication, computer and interpersonal skills required
- PR and community outreach experience and social media skills required
- Grant writing and fundraising experience required, donor management preferred
- Ability to manage grantees and funder relationships, ensure deadlines are met and funds are administered with fidelity
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement and to work independently
Organization Mission and Purpose
The mission of Communities In Schools (CIS) of Texas is to expand the capacity and scope of services of the CIS member organizations through communication, visibility, resource development, internal and external partnerships and education. Our vision is a united and strong network of CIS affiliates throughout Texas.
Position Purpose
This position is responsible for supporting the CIS of Texas Network to achieve its strategic goals and objectives. The position will accomplish this by partnering with the organization’s board of directors.
The position will:
Build visibility and awareness of CIS
Raise resources to advance affiliates’ work
Support the network, the committees, the EDs and strengthen collaboration
Major Responsibilities
The position is responsible for forming strong relationships with CIS of Texas affiliates, understanding the internal and external environment of CIS, and providing pathways of support to further the mission work of CIS affiliates.
Primary Duties
Visibility and Awareness
- Build connections with media and others to further the mission of CIS
- Create and execute a Marketing Strategy and Plan
- Utilize the website and social media to advance awareness of CIS of Texas
- Identify Key Performance Indicators to evaluate brand strength and awareness
Resource Development and Financial Management
- Fundraising o Develop grant proposals to supplement the CIS of Texas operational budget o In collaboration with leadership or members, develop grant proposals that will support, strengthen, deepen and grow the work of the CIS network in Texas o Identify opportunities to build CIS of Texas’ capacity and ability to distribute funds to affiliates as appropriate o Develop relationships, connections and potentially events that lead to sustaining revenue for operations and network support.
- Financial Management o Work with board treasurer to receive and distribute funds and track CIS of Texas budget as needed o Oversee and manage the Invoicing and collection of membership dues o Prepare and file the 990 annually
Support and Develop the Network
- Collaborate with members, committee chairs and officers to effectively engage members in work that advances strategic goals and opportunities that arise
- Enhance communication throughout the network with administrative supports and regular check-ins
- Assist in new ED support from a CIS of Texas Network perspective
Support the 501 C6
- Prepare and submit grant requests for the Supporters of Texas Student Success (STSS), our sister 501 C6 organization including the CIS National Grant for our lobbyist
- Oversee and manage the Invoicing and collection of membership dues
- Prepare and file the 990 annually
- Provide requested support throughout the Texas Legislative Sessions
- No more than 20% of time will be spent on 501 C6 duties
Additional Duties and Qualities
- Partner with CIS Statewide Coordinator under the Texas Education Agency and CIS
National, as appropriate, to leverage and coordinate assets and information among the organizations
- Ability to meet deadlines and financial objectives
- Assume responsibility for personal/professional growth to improve job performance for overall effectiveness of CIS
