RESPONSIBILITIES TO DALLAS DAY SCHOOL STAFF

  • Providing a safe, secure and nurturing learning environment;
  • Ensuring accurate and routine communication with our families;
  • Providing new family tours, orientation, etc.;
  • Submitting timely and accurate programmatic reports;
  • Representing the school at community forums, workshops, etc.;
  • Serving on the school’s community relations team;
  • Providing education to the community-at-large, stakeholders, advocates and providers;
  • Ensuring that the school maintains appropriate child-teacher ratios;
  • Ensuring that all licensure and accreditation standards, if applicable, are complied with; and
  • Remaining knowledgeable of trends, issues, and new advances in the field.

In conjunction with the Director of Dallas Day School:

  • Ensuring that the daily operations of the school are compliant with minimum standards as stated in The Minimum Standard Rules for Licensed Child-Care Services, as well as any applicable accreditation standards (e.g., NAEYC, NACCP);
  • Ensuring that all school employees are aware of and compliant with licensing and accreditation standards;
  • Assisting the classroom teachers with developing and implementing instructional strategies;
  • Providing parental support, assistance, and education;
  • Providing orientation to all new faculty
  • Inspecting and ensuring that all indoor/outdoor equipment is safe and maintained and is appropriate for the developmental levels of the children served;
  • Providing direct supervision of Dallas Day School teaching staff;
  • Maintaining frequent and ongoing communication and collaboration with the Executive Director and the leadership team;
  • Ensuring that communication adheres to appropriate channels;
  • Providing feedback to the Director regarding each faculty member’s performance
  • Collaborating with the Director relating to community referrals for services beyond the scope of Dallas Services and Dallas Day School;
  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of benchmarks through which student and program progress can be measured;
  • Identifying, developing, and/or selecting curricula;
  • Recruiting families and staff for the day school through community contacts;
  • Participating in team and other relevant meetings;
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation;
  • Performing weekly billing and collections
  • Performing other duties as assigned; and

 RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM (CACFP)

  • Provide staff training on the serving, monitoring and documentation requirements of CACFP;
  • Coordinate, in concert with the Executive Director and the vendor, the menu, ensuring that all menu items meet or exceed the nutritional requirements of the CACFP;
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with civil rights regulations as they relate to CACFP; and
  • Consistently monitor and correct, if necessary, the implementation of the CACFP

PREFERRED EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • A minimum of a Child Development Associate
  • A. Degree preferred in Early Childhood Education, Special Education or related field;
  • First Aid and CPR certifications preferred; required for continued employment; and
  • Working knowledge of MS WORD, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Outlook.

CHARACTERISTICS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED and/or REQUIRED:

  • Able to provide attention to detail;
  • 5 years’ experience in early childhood education centers, licensed as a director or the ability to secure such license;
  • Experience in and knowledge of child development;
  • Experience in a pre-school learning environment;
  • Able to work with diverse populations;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Innovative;
  • Creative problem solver and one who finds ways to enhance programs;
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check;
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds;
  • Customer service-oriented;
  • Ability to plan, organize, set objectives/time frames, and prioritize.
