Job Title: Development & Special Events Coordinator
Reports To: Executive Director
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary: $45,000 - $55,000/year, based on qualifications and experience
Organization Overview
NAMI North Texas addresses the unmet needs of individuals living with mental health conditions and their families through advocacy, education and support.
Position Summary
The Development & Special Events Coordinator is responsible for NAMI North Texas’ fundraising initiatives, including major gifts, planned giving, fundraising events and other sources of contributed income. In coordination with the Executive Director, the Development & Special Events Coordinator will craft and implement NAMI North Texas’ overarching development strategy with the goal of ensuring continued financial success and overall organizational growth.
Responsibilities:
Development
- Plan a comprehensive and aggressive 2-5 year strategic plan for fundraising growth, including existing donors/channels and new opportunities.
- Set clear priorities and metrics for success and measure growth.
- Use Network for Good CRM to manage and track all prospects, donors, reports, deadlines and relationships.
- Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential donors, solicit individual major gifts and oversee institutional giving initiatives (in coordination with grant writer as necessary).
- Collaborate with Public Relations & Marketing Consultant to develop and execute annual communications plan for donor relations, including marketing and digital strategies.
- Maintain consistent communication with donors through thank you letters, tax donation letters, personalized phone calls with major donors and email updates on organization milestones.
- Supervise part-time Development Assistant.
Special Events
- Manage all fundraising events, including NAMIWalks, North Texas Giving Day, Annual Holiday Party and other major giving events. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Managing vendors and suppliers.
- Soliciting sponsorships and in-kind donations.
- Developing fundraising strategy.
- Coordinating all event logistics, including but not limited to operational, logistical, financial and promotional responsibilities.
- Completing event reports and developing a post-event donor/sponsor recognition program.
- NAMIWalks:
- Lead communications between NAMI North Texas and National NAMIWalks Team.
- Manage communications with team captains, walkers, volunteers and sponsors.
- Maintain NAMIWalks North Texas fundraising sight (Donor Drive).
- Complete comprehensive post-Walk income/expense report for NAMI National.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant area.
- 3+ years related experience in donor engagement/management, community or public relations and event management/planning and marketing.
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
- Budget management and revenue forecasting.
- Strong background in managing all aspects of fundraising including high net worth individuals, foundations and corporation relations.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, delegate responsibility and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Relations or other related field.
- Business development and marketing experience.
- Familiar with NAMI’s mission and programs and/or active in the mental health community.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
