Description
The Richardson Adult Literacy Center (RALC) is seeking to hire a talented, creative and enthusiastic candidate to join our team as a Communications Assistant. As a Communications Assistant, you will be responsible for content creation that’s specific to our brand. Through printed/virtual promo materials, creating press releases, social media posts, website content, documenting special events and mission-related activities you will use your communications skills to help reach our targeted community.
To succeed in this job role, you should be engaging the target audience via social media, website and printed/virtual promo materials. You should possess amazing communication skills and an incredible ability to think outside the box. You should also possess excellent networking skills and extraordinary proofreading abilities as well.
Specific Job Responsibilities
Develop and implement effective communication strategies.
Incorporate creative and state of the art design elements into all communications pieces.
Create content that attracts the attention of the target audience.
Draft, edit and submit written communications in a targeted and timely manner.
Create and share communications (eg. social media posts and web content) in line with the mission.
Prepare and maintain promotional materials, reports, calendars, and media contact lists.
Support internal communications of RALC teams.
Keep track of media exposure and project developments.
Working in collaboration with Search Engine Optimization, track KPIs, social media and other communication metrics
Ensure all communications content is attractive and engaging.
Develop strategies to increase followership and engagement.
Communications Assistant Requirements
BA/BS in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
Superb written and verbal communication skills
Strong understanding of social media and website platforms, including but not limited to Wix, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Excellent multitasking and organizational skills
Proficiency in design software, including Canva
Strong attention to detail
Outstanding research skills
A creative thinker with an ability to think out of the box
Solid interpersonal and team building skills
Ability to understand basic design concepts
A keen eye for detail

To Apply:
We offer a flexible schedule with some in-office hours and some work from home hours. There may be a need to attend some after hours events at times and these will be scheduled in advance. Expected to work 5 hours per week for a full year schedule that follows the RISD school holiday calendar. This is a part time position.
