Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Program Manager for the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with staff, the Board of Directors, and numerous program committees to implement strategic initiatives and programs that support the organization’s mission and outreach to the community. The Program Manager is responsible for bridging the needs of our members through the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of educational and social programs for diverse age groups. Other key duties include financial oversight, revenue generation, volunteer management, communications, advocacy, and community outreach.
The Program Manager must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and have a passion for supporting and advocating for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. The ideal candidate will posses a shared vision that values diversity, inclusion, and promotes high expectations for all individuals. The Program Manager should have demonstrated success in working with individuals with IDD and feel confident in leading group programs independently with the support of volunteers. Bi-lingual English and Spanish is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Development and Management:
The Program Manager works closely with the Executive Director, staff, and related program committees to develop and implement a comprehensive program and events calendar that enhances the social and educational development of people with Down syndrome, their families, and the community.
- Manage all aspects from planning to implementation of educational and social programming for youth, teens, and adults. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: securing content, date, and location of events, coordinating registration, managing event logistics and vendors in accordance with program budget, recruiting, training, and supervising event volunteers, serving as on-site facilitator unless otherwise deemed appropriate.
- Collaborate with the New and Expectant Parent Coordinator on development of program goals and calendar of events for new and expectant parents.
- Develop, implement, and supervise risk management program and protocols to ensure member safety at all events.
- Supervise and collaborate with various program committees to ensure committee goals are met.
- Maintain program statistics to provide regular feedback on all programs, their effectiveness, and return on investment to program committees, Executive Director, and Board of Directors.
- Analyze trends in programs through surveys, program statistics, and other feedback to identify issues and recommend solutions to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Volunteer Management:
The Program Manager will create a consistent, quality volunteer population to regularly assist with programs/events hosted by the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas.
- Develop, implement, and manage a volunteer recruitment, training, and retention program to expand and maintain quality volunteers across all program and event areas.
- Collaborate with volunteers and staff at the Down syndrome Clinic at Children’s Health to ensure effective communication of programs and resources.
Marketing and Outreach:
The Program Manager works closely with the Executive Director and staff to ensure effective and consistent communication of its mission and programs to member families and the greater community.
- Collaborate with staff to market programs/events to membership and the community. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: creating promotional materials, assisting with social media and e-newsletter content, and updating website content.
- Represent the organization at related community events and resource fairs when deemed appropriate.
- Partner and interact with peer groups in the Down syndrome community to broaden knowledge base.
- Identify and maintain community resources to assist with member questions and referrals.
Financial Performance and Viability:
The Program Manager works closely with the Executive Director and staff to ensure sufficient development of resources that promotes financial health of the organization.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of annual fundraising events including, but not limited to: Buddy Walk®, gala, Rock Your Socks campaign, etc. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: collaborating with planning committee and development staff, providing attendee and donor support, t-shirt distribution, volunteer coordination, and serving in various capacities on event day.
- Assist development staff in identifying and cultivating funding sources for programs including, but not limited to: meeting with donors, identifying program sponsorship opportunities, and compiling data for grants.
- Develop, manage, and evaluate annual program budget in coordination with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
Operations and Administrative:
The Program Manager works closely with the Executive Director and staff to ensure consistency and efficiency in the daily operations of the organization.
- Respond to incoming communications and resource requests within 48 hours.
- Manage and maintain confidential information in donor/membership database.
- Assist with general office tasks including, but not limited to: copying, filing, configuring meeting space, ordering supplies, and data entry.
- All other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree and one to two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent, proven attention to detail and ability to track and prioritize many tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects with multiple stakeholders and prioritize work both independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent customer service as well as interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software platforms. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Constant Contact, Bloomerang or other donor database software, and social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, HootSuite) a plus
- Basic photo editing and graphic design skills with experience in Canva a plus.
- Passion and demonstrated success in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
SALARY, BENEFITS, AND HOURS:
This is a full-time exempt salaried position at $50,000 annually. This position also offers a competitive benefits package that includes health/dental insurance, retirement contribution plans, paid holidays, and paid time off.
The Program Manager must be able to work a flexible schedule including multiple nights and weekends per month as needed for programs, events, and committee meetings. In-person office hours are required with occasional opportunity for remote work and comp time based on the program and events calendar.
