Essential Responsibilities

The Bush Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the Manager, Public Engagement.  Working closely with the Director, George W. Bush Presidential Museum and other cross-organizational team members, you will play a crucial role in delivering engaging content and providing evaluation of public programs that align with the organization’s strategic goals.  This role requires a strong background in public program design, event operations, and exceptional organizational skills.

  • Manage the Bush Center’s portfolio of public program activities including content development and resource management.
  • Develop clear goals, expectations, and measures for in-person public program activities that align with the Bush Center’s priorities.
  • Coordinate programs for a variety of Bush Center audiences through dynamic and meaningful experiences.
  • Prioritize outcomes to drive membership, attendance, and engagement.
  • Serve as the content owner for public program activities and liaison with the Bush Center’s events team for the execution of those activities.
  • Maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with Bush Center staff to support program goals and objectives.
  • Engage public audiences in a variety of activity formats, ensuring the highest quality and dynamic guest experiences.
  • Work closely with the marketing and communications team to develop strategies to support public program activities and increase community awareness.
  • Assess the effectiveness of public program activities through guest feedback and evaluation of data to provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Provide clear and consistent communication with both internal and external partners to achieve each public engagement activity’s objectives.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, innovation, and excellence across the entire life cycle of public engagement activities.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The qualified candidate will possess (a/an):

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in program design, event implementation, and management.
  • Possess a thorough, working knowledge of office applications, point of sales systems, event management systems, and project management tools.
  • Knowledge of public engagement best practices, standards, and trends in programming.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent management, decision making and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

Additionally, the qualified candidate will:

  • Possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and exemplify leadership and composure under pressure.
  • Ability to problem solve, make and implement decisions quickly and soundly.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and writing skills in dealing with visitors and staff of all levels.
  • Be able to maintain regular, dependable attendance in the building.
