Scope of Position:

The Individual Gifts Officer is responsible for cultivating and securing four and five-figure annual gifts from mid-level individual donors and prospects. The Officer proactively engages DMA members, supporters, and others to renew and increase annual giving. Also, the Officer plays a key role in developing the Museum’s stewardship of major individual donors while collaborating with other staff and fundraising leaders.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter, capable of securing mid-level giving from individuals. Applicants should possess excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with the detailed organizational skills needed to manage a robust program.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Qualify and maintain a portfolio of up to 250 mid-level donors, members and prospects, cultivating relationships with a goal to deepen patron engagement and support.
  • Oversee Family Forum Group including oversight of renewal and acknowledgement, along with benefit fulfillment.
  • Develop and implement overall moves management plans, strategies and steps for donors and prospects.
  • Track and meet metrics for interactions and solicitations.
  • Write compellingly for a wide range of purposes including personal and group emails, program descriptions, gift proposals, Museum updates, and more.
  • Conduct donor research in collaboration with other team members and update donor profiles, as needed.
  • Participate in DMA donor events as required to execute the stewardship strategy.
  • Be the primary liaison for VIP tours for internal and external constituents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRMENTS

 

Education, Experience, and Certification:

  • A bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of nonprofit individual fundraising experience.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other Office suite applications.
  • Previous Raisers Edge and CRM experience preferred.

 

Key Qualifications:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports, presentations, and proposals that make a compelling case for support and steward donors.
  • Experience cultivating, soliciting, and securing individual support from mid-level donors at the four and five-figure gift level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with tracking and managing a donor portfolio management system.
  • Strong project management and organizational competencies with a demonstrated aptitude for multitasking, attention to detail, and meeting competing and overlapping deadlines.
