EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Location: ALEDO, TX
Reports to: EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Salary Range: COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE
Position: FULL TIME
About the Aledo Education Foundation (AEF):
AEF is a dedicated local education non-profit committed to partnering with the community to provide private resources to enrich teaching, inspire learning, and maximize innovative opportunities for all students in the Aledo Independent School District (“Aledo ISD”). We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Executive Director to lead AEF in this mission.
Position Overview:
The Executive Director will be responsible for the overall leadership, management and strategic direction of AEF. Reporting directly to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will ensure that AEF achieves its mission, effectively manages resources, and maintains sustainable growth. This role will require someone who is both a visionary leader and a hands-on manager with a strong commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead the development and execution of the organization’s strategic plan.
- Provide visionary leadership that inspires staff, board members, volunteers, and donors to achieve the organization’s goals.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance and align organizational objectives with strategic priorities.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing its interests to the community, professional associations, donors, and Aledo ISD employees.
Operations & Management:
- Oversee and implement the daily operations of the organization, ensuring efficient processes and strong program delivery.
- Create and maintain a positive organizational culture that promotes teamwork, transparency, and accountability.
- Ensure effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders, including creating a strong social media presence for AEF.
- Maintain current knowledge of political and community developments that impact schools.
Fundraising & Financial Management:
- Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, individual donor cultivation, corporate partnerships, and special events, to meet the organization’s revenue goals.
- Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial stability and transparency.
- Oversee financial performance, ensuring the effective use of resources, maintaining accurate financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Work closely with the Board to develop fundraising strategies, support grant applications, and track progress towards fundraising goals.
- Maintain current knowledge of developments and practices in fund raising, planned giving, and tax laws related to charitable giving (to include annual giving, annuities, grants, memorials, and tributes).
Program Development & Impact:
- Monitor and assess the impact of programs, ensuring they are aligned with the organization’s mission and achieving desired outcomes.
- Foster partnerships with Aledo ISD, community organizations, and other stakeholders to expand program reach and impact.
- Lead the development of new initiatives, programs, or services that address emerging needs in Aledo ISD.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (prefer 5+ years) in senior leadership roles in non-profit organizations, preferably in education or community-based services.
- Strong knowledge of non-profit management, including finance, fundraising and program development.
- Demonstrated ability to fundraise and build relationships with donors and community partners and the school district employees.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
- A passion for education, social equity and community engagement.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree required (education, marketing, business administration, communication, nonprofit management or similar focus). Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
