Position Summary:

Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Development Director will oversee and build Arlington Charities Development program. As a key member of the management team, the Director will provide strategic direction, set and achieve fundraising goals, maintain knowledge of funders interests, and cultivate relationships with funders, community members, fellow employees, and volunteers. Approximately 30 hours per week, M – Th. Off hours supporting special events and community activities will also be required.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and others to create and implement a fundraising plan.
  • Plan and execute all necessary details for signature event (Help & Hope) by leading all aspects of event include management of volunteers and committee, event logistics, sponsorship coordination, live and silent auctions, etc.
  • Maintain relationships with new and existing donors and sponsors.
  • Obtaining financial support from individuals and organizations.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop a compatible digital strategy.
  • Furnish regular progress reports.
  • Collaborate on development materials such as grants and case statements.
  • Collaborate management of development software. (DonorPerfect)
  • Collaborate with staff responsible for data entry and gift processing.
  • Contributes to the development of newsletters and annual reports.
  • Other duties as necessary or assigned.

Candidate requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, non-profit management, or related field.
  • 4+ years of fundraising, sales, or business development experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate information clearly (both written and oral);
  • Experienced with sponsorship and donor solicitation. Ability to build and maintain relationships and interact effectively with donors and community members.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially with MS Office and CRM applications.
  • Excellent understanding of best practices.
  • Creative approach to problem solving;
  • Ability to work independently, as well as a team member supporting events and initiatives.
  • Occasional weekends and evenings.

Salary depending on qualifications and experience. Paid holidays, two weeks paid vacation per year, and eight days paid sick leave per year. PLEASE NOTE: No health benefits provided.
