Welcome to the Family Promise of Collin County (FPOCC) Board of Directors! We’re honored to have you join us in our mission. By contributing to the governance of FPOCC, you’re making a direct, meaningful impact on family homelessness in Collin County and helping to change countless lives—from our guests to our hosts.
The following job description outlines your role and responsibilities in supporting FPOCC to achieve its mission and annual goals. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to this vital work.
Our Mission
Is to help families with children experiencing homelessness achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.
Board Member Requirements
Engagement: Board meeting are held the 3rd Monday of each month unless otherwise notified. Members are expected to attend at least 75% of the board meetings. If a board member cannot attend, he or she must notify the Board Chair and Executive Director.
Governance: Each board member understands that the board is responsible for setting policy—elements that affect the viability and future of the FOPCC. Elements that deal with day-to-day operations is determined by staff and the board is only involved at staff request.
Quorum: To officially conduct the business of the board at least 60% of the board must be attendance.
Operations Manuel: Each board member will be provided with a copy of the FPOCC Manual for Trustees that will include bylaws, program information and other key information regarding our mission and strategies during your board orientation.
Volunteer: Board members are encouraged to volunteer when and where possible in support of the mission of FPOCC
Financial Support: Each board member should contribute financially to the work of FPOCC based on his or her means.
Serve on a committee: Board members are strongly encouraged to consider serving on at least one committee of FPOCC.
Promote: Each board member is asked seek opportunities to promote the programs of FPOCC. To championing it in public, professional and private interactions.
Conflict of Interest: Each board member is aware of any conflicts of interest they have in relationship to the mission and vision of FPOCC and makes sure that his or her actions do not violate that policy. Conflict of Interest forms are reviewed and signed annually.
Evaluation: Annually each Board member will be asked to evaluate the effectiveness of the FPOCC board and its commitment to the mission and vision of the organization.
