Primary Purpose

The Annual Giving Officer has responsibility for the execution and management of the Parkland Health Foundation’s annual giving program including omni-channel direct response and employee giving with the dual goal of ensuring a broad array of entry points through which donors and prospective donors may become involved with the Foundation and to grow and sustain a base of annual fund revenue.

Minimum Specifications

Education

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree.

Experience

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of fundraising, development, or marketing experience.
  • Experience working with Raiser’s Edge or other comparable donor management system preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare philanthropy preferred.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

Skills or Special Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish results and a proven track record in meeting personal goals. Excellent written, verbal, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain solid and effective working relationships with individuals/groups at all levels in the community and internally.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of annual giving programs including omni channel direct response/direct marketing programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Raiser's Edge or comparable CRM system and the ability to extract, analyze and utilize complex data.
  • Knowledge of basic budget management.
  • Ability to handle confidential materials with appropriate discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with key Foundation staff stakeholders to operationalize a comprehensive program to increase donor acquisition and annual giving, working collaboratively with other team members to ensure stewardship and further cultivation as appropriate.
  • Manages all aspects of donor acquisition, tribute giving, annual fund, online and/or telemarketing fundraising efforts including relationships with consultants or vendors, calendar planning, logistics of all efforts, tracking and evaluation. Ensures continuity of brand and key messages in all communications.
  • Develops and coordinates employee giving programs, grateful patient programs, physician alumni programs and/or any other targeted audience for annual giving, including promotion, management of relationships, processing of all pledges, recognition of donors and evaluation.
  • Provides customer support to donors, prospects, and internal customers, including answers to constituent questions, hospital tours and other requests.
  • Maintains active involvement in prospect identification, cultivation, and solicitation to broaden the donor base and to upgrade donors in a variety of gift ranges. Participates fully in the moves management process.
  • Assists with development of operational budget and manages spending accordingly.
  • Attend hospital and foundation-wide events as needed.

Job Accountabilities

  1. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  2. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
