How to Motivate and Engage Your Board in Fundraising

Engaging and motivating your board is important work that’s worth your thought and time. However, working with board members can be intimidating or overwhelming, leaving you unsure of how to relate or where to start. This session will help you understand the board’s responsibility for fundraising and discover new ways to engage them in the work of development, even when they say they’re not fundraisers.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the board’s role in fund development and staff’s role in working with board members
- Learn how to invite every board member to accept a fundraising task, from “easy” ones for reticent board members to more advanced work for experienced fundraisers
- Discover ways to deepen board members’ understanding of your mission and empower them to champion the cause
- Learn to assess and influence the board’s makeup through your organization’s board development process
