ABOUT THE PANELISTS
Ben Leal, President
The Addy Foundation
Ben Leal has 20+ years of non-profit and government experience. He began his career in the Office of the Governor for the State of Texas, and later served as a Legislative Director for the Texas House of Representatives. Ben is a graduate of Texas Lutheran University with a BA in Political Science focusing on Public Policy and Urban Development with a minor in Economics. He completed Strategic Prospective in Nonprofit Management at Harvard Business School. Additionally, Ben is a 2012 Graduate Fellow of Leadership ISD, a 2018 Graduate of Leadership Dallas, and a member of The Dallas Assembly. Ben serves on appointed boards for the City of Dallas and Dallas ISD. He is on the Board of United to Learn and The DFW International Board of Directors, as well as assists many nonprofits in North Texas at an advisory level.
Dana Beckman, Vice President & Chief Sustainability Officer
Bread Financial
Dana Beckman has been part of Bread Financial since 2004 and currently heads the Office of Sustainability. As the originator of the company’s sustainability strategy, Dana has led and directed all facets of ideation, execution, and maturation of the Company’s efforts, ensuring consistent and comparable reporting and communications that meets the evolving expectations of transparency among our stakeholders. Dana’s team also oversees Bread Financial’s community investment strategy, stewardship of nonprofit partnerships, associate volunteer engagement and giving programs.
Katie Robbins, President & CEO
Hoblitzelle Foundation
Katie Robbins has a connection with Hoblitzelle Foundation that began well before her actual employment date in 2016. Katie’s grandfather, Lynn Harris, began working for Mr. Hoblitzelle’s theater company as an usher at the Majestic Theater in the late 1920s. Lynn ultimately supported Mr. Hoblitzelle in many ways, including working on foundation business. Upon Lynn’s retirement in 1986, Katie’s father Paul W. Harris began working for the foundation, creating this treasured generational connection. Paul retired at the end of 2017, and Katie was named President and CEO effective January 1, 2018.
Katie spent over twenty years in nonprofit finance and accounting, is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Texas A&M University and earned her MBA at Southern Methodist University. Katie currently serves on the boards of AT&T Performing Arts Center, Communities Foundation of Texas, Florence Foundation, Philanthropy Southwest, Southwestern Medical Foundation, and The Arts Cultural Alliance (TACA). She formerly served on the board of Junior League of Dallas and is past chair of Parkland Foundation.
