Three powerful words—Rescue, Rehabilitate, and Rehome—have been the mantra of Straydog, Inc. for over 25 years. Straydog is dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs, providing care in a no-kill environment until each dog is adopted, and serving as a sanctuary for those who are never adopted.
Founded in December 1997 by Pat and Bill Arnold, Straydog was created with a heart and passion for rescue work. Pat and her small team set new standards for dog rescue, offering personalized care for every dog in the shelter. Over the years, Straydog has become a recognized and respected leader in no-kill rescue and sanctuary operations.
Fast forward to 2024, and while our core values remain unchanged, our reach has expanded. Straydog now cares for more than 160 dogs on any given day. This continued impact is made possible by our dedicated board, loving caregivers, committed volunteers, and incredible supporters, all of whom guide us in this never-ending mission.
At Straydog, every dog receives:
- 24/7 affection, care, and training from our dedicated team of caregivers.
- Playtime in large parks or spacious indoor/outdoor kennels, providing opportunities for socialization and exercise.
- Daily nutritious meals and comprehensive medical care, including preventative treatments for heartworm, fleas, and ticks, as well as emergency services and necessary medications.
Straydog’s mission remains steadfast: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome every dog we can, while ensuring a safe and loving sanctuary for those who remain under our care.
