Description

ing of Glory Lutheran Church is a congregation in north Dallas and is one of the largest ELCA churches in North Texas. Its staff of less than 20 serves a membership of over 1,000 people, along with a wide variety of volunteer leaders and committee members.

The Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for developing and executing all communication plans for King of Glory, including both internal and public audiences to grow engagement and involvement. The church IT/Media Coordinator reports to this position. This position reports to the Executive Church Administrator.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Establish and develop a strategic plan to promote, grow, and engage the church’s ministries, seasonal calendar activities, ministry partners, and special events to members and, when appropriate, the general public.
  • Produce weekly and monthly email and social media posts with accompanying graphics to keep members and guests informed about church activities.
  • Produce weekly dynamic audio/visual support for in-person and online worship services.
  • Develop communications standards, templates, and manuals.
  • Develop and produce on-site signage/flyers/bulletin inserts/banners/brochures/press releases and other materials as needed to convey the breadth of possibilities available to people through King of Glory Lutheran Church, while maintaining the Church’s branding.
  • Maintain and enhance the value and ease of use for kingofglory.com, plus the most appropriate social media channels including content creation, graphic design, analytics and consistent reporting.
  • Produce a calendar of event-specific and as well as generic messaging/graphics for our digital electronic sign to reach both members and the general public.
  • Produce the church’s Annual Report by year-end.
  • Respond to member requests for help in promoting various church-related activities.

 

Goals:

  • Develop and present a clear brand and voice, driving strategies to achieve awareness objectives. Utilize best practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead and execute an effective creative process, including clear direction and project management while partnering with Directors, staff, volunteers, and Congregation Council to align with key goals and objectives.
  • Lead strategic development and execution of all communication materials, including traditional and digital advertising and creative services. 
  • Develop online strategy to establish, track, and maintain engagement across platforms; provide reporting to support data-driven decisions to increase brand awareness and engagement
  • Determine how artificial intelligence (AI) technologies can improve efficiency of developing church communications.

 

Administrative Expectations: 

  • Assure timely implementation of goals, directives, and developments.
  • Develop, implement, and adhere to the communications budget.
  • Implement effective systems to enhance productivity and workflow.
  • Supervise direct reports/volunteers, with a plan on leadership skill development.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers to meet needs of the communications strategy.
  • Attend, contribute and collaborate in weekly staff and planning meetings.
  • Assure excellence in written and electronic communications through intentional, concise, and careful writing, design, editing, proofreading, and production.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by Senior/Lead Pastor or Congregation Council.

 

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, digital media marketing, social networking, or public relations, including oral and written skills.
  • Knowledge in principles of graphic design, web, print, and video. Proficiency highly desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including editing and proofreading.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts of various teams and present a coherent message.
  • Set and maintain deadlines, with a goal to deliver excellence in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay abreast of new technological trends and integrate them into ministry. Continuing Education is available and encouraged.

 

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Executive Church Administrator. Direct Reports: IT/Media Coordinator; volunteers
