Under the direction of the Chief Program Officer, the Vice President of Sponsorship Communications will be responsible for the overall strategy and execution of communication to Family Legacy’s child sponsors. Included in this is oversight of the Child Sponsorship Relationship Managers, sponsorship communication projects, and the acquisition and retention of Family Legacy Missions International child sponsors.  This individual will work closely with relevant teams including sponsorship account services, finance, development and communications to produce accurate and compelling sponsorship communication updates.  To succeed in this position, one must be able to quickly learn new skills and take initiative. Extreme attention to detail, superb communication skills and a willingness to support other departments is required.  .


  • Represent Family Legacy in a positive, pleasant manner by always providing excellent customer service.  Serves as a role model and adheres to Standards of Behaviors.  Handles requests and concerns in a friendly, fair and impartial manner. Supports the Ministry’s mission, vision and values
  • Be an advocate and ambassador for Family Legacy, influencing and challenging people to become involved
  • Supervise the Child Sponsorship Relationship Managers and delegate assignments to them as needed
  • Improve child sponsorship relationship communication strategies and methods
  • Develop and maintain relationship management policies and procedures
  • Creatively seek and secure new child sponsors
  • Implement strategies to increase child sponsorship retention
  • Coordinate communication strategy with sponsors to provide updates on students including achievements, tragic events, transfers, and/or program changes
  • Respond to all phone calls and written correspondence from sponsors with empathy, sensitivity and appreciation. Lead and train team to do the same. Pray with sponsors as directed by the Holy Spirit
  • Address escalated complaints and queries from child sponsors with tact and professionalism
  • Liaise with the communications team to produce sponsorship materials
  • Ensure that sponsorship materials are available for tours, events, website or any venue where sponsorship is promoted
  • Facilitate sponsorship at events and conferences
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of management experience is required.  An extensive background in customer relations is desired. A minimum of two years of experience in communications strategy development is preferred.

  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Google Sheets, Google Docs, and donor management software.
